View Full Version : What is the best FF FMV?

The best FF FMV has got to be the one in FFVIII when Squall jumps towards the already-moving SeeD boat and the mechanical-spider-thing gets the hell blasted out of it by Quistis. Of course, the bit in FFX where Tidus grinds down a metal chain to the church is great.

To narrow the FMV's down to a definite best out of all the FF's is an impossibilty for me, so I'll try to pick out the best for each individual FF intead.

FFVII- Plenty of great ones here. There's Aeris's Death, Sephiroth's "In the Flames" scene, the "Emerging of the WEAPONS", That one WEAPON getting his head blown apart.... I gotta go with the FMV when the WEAPONS first came from Earth. The sense of actual fear I got from that was just classic.

FFVIII- You can say whatever you want about this ff, but it is undeniable that some of the best FMV's in video game history came from FFVIII. The elegance of the Ball Room scene, the real choreography of the parade scene, the sense of calamity when Galbadia attacks Balamb, all unforgettable. But the best would have to be that Intro scene. Oh...My... GOD!!!

FFIX- Don't remember many FMV's from this one. The scenes where the Eidolons were being summoned (namely Atmos) were awesome. But the ending scene get's the award here. I remember my little sister crying when she saw it!

FFX- The FMV's from this ff escape me a bit as well... For now, I'll just say the long first scene where Sin attacked Tidus's original world....

Quite simply, I think the best FMV from each FF is the ending.

My favourite FMV ever, is from my least favourite FF, hehe, but that is the Squall and Rinoa ballroom dance. I've just always thought that was a wonderful FMV, the music, the expressions, the funny way that Squall tries to walk off, and the way Rinoa glares at the other couple ^_^

My second favourite has to be Yuna and Tidus' kiss in FFX. It's so romantic and the music and the bit where they go underwater...awww  .

I love a lot of the FMV's in IX too, but the two I mentioned are what I would say are the best ones and the ones that Square have done the best.

I haven't played FFIX in a long time so I may fail to describe this properly... But it's the one where they're all jumping out of the ariship into the place with the genomes and it zooms in on Zidane's eye. I really liked the FMVs in that game.

That FFX FMV where they're going down the chain to Bevelle...Spira must have a pretty wonkitated gravitational field.

Anyway, I'd give it to FFVIII's intro FMV. Or Cloud in the Motorbike scene. Or FFX's intro. Or FFX's kissing in the spring.

FF8 had the best overall for me, even though it wasn't my favourite FF game, they seemed to have put a lot more effort into them than in 7/9, and possibly also more than some scenes from 10, with the exception of the mid-game one with the vocal track in the background. *avoids using spoiler tags* :p

Any FMV with Garnet on it :D

Best Intro FMV: FFVIII...hands down.

Best mid-game FMV: The one where they were sliding out of the airship from FFX...pure sweetness. Or just about all of the rest of the FFX FMVs:tongue:.

Best Ending FMV: FFX...I'm a guy, and I was 17 at the time, and I sat there crying my ass off...plus it was just such a beautiful, touching piece of work by itself.

Well, we all know FFVIII has the best opening. FFIX has the best seen with Summons in it, mainly Alexander beating Bahamut's ass. I mainly like FFVIII and IX's cinema's, FFVII didn't have many, and there were lame, and FFX's while nice to look I hate the game.

:mad2: Oi! Magai! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH FFX! it has great characters and a good storyline. But FFX-2 looks better (especially Rikku. YUM!)

Hmm... I have to admit, as overall craptastic as VIII was, it did have some beautiful FMVs. I never really thought of it before this thread, but they did put a lot of work into their FMVs, they werent just cut scenes, they had their own brilliance to them.

My favorites... hmm.. I love the parade scene of VIII, because the costumes, movement, and accompanying music were wonderful. The end scene of X, I bawled like a baby, and finally the general melee of the Anthologies version of VI. I wish they would have used a different style because a lot of the characters just looked... weird (I love Amano, but his stuff doesnt work for me in 3d), but Terra looking up in the snow is just gorgeous.

It was NOT craptastic *as amusing as that word is* it was just a tad too advanced in graphic idea to have the backwards PS1 complete the vision, THE VISION, which was probably trying to achieve a FFX level, which was still craptastic looking xD

and I agree with all your scenes.

Oh no no, I meant the game itself, storyline and characters and stuff, were craptastic. The graphics were awesome for their time.

And we rock. :D

My fave?

hrmm would have to be maybe Sephiroth walking through the flames in Nibelhiem(sp?) because that was so beast.

some other major ones i liked, were FFVIII opening, FFXI blitzball opening, and when Zidane is running through the forest dodging the vines.

The FMV in FF7 when the Sister Ray fires at Weapon and Weapon retaliates just in time. I thought it was great how Rufus just stared down the weapon, even though he must have known he was about to get fried.

I liked the Bahamut vs. Alexander FMV in FF9.

I like when Yuna escapes from her wedding with seymore in FFX. But I think my favorite is near the end of FF8 when Squall drops to his knees and a single tear runs out of the corner of his eye. I think its near the end, but its been years since i last played it.

Let's see...

I liked the one in FFIX with Zidane running out of the Evil Forest showing off his monkey-like skills.

I liked it when Edea blocked the bullet near the end of Disc 1 in VIII.

In IX, the one with Zidane and the others going into the portal to Terra.

And if it counts, the ending to IX.

Actually, i thought the game was amazing, my favourite FF of all time. It was great and i've played many a FF.

Anyway...

FFVIII's intro still blows me away. I remeber loading it up, thinking "my mate says it's crap compared to FFVII, is he right?" and then that comes on. The music, the images...WOW.

The Ballroom scene is fantastic, with the relationship of Squall & Rinoa in that dance, brings me back to my school disco *decides to leave that story for another day*

FFIX cutscenes were terrible. Nuff said. (Laughs as he continues blasting FFIX)

FFX's lake scene, the destruction of home and the end are paticular faves

Another incredible scene was the one where Squall saved Rinoa when she was in that chamber. I forget where it was, but it showed Squall slicing some pipe, or something, then steam comes out and it shows Squall holding the gunblade with an unconscious Rinoa in front of him.

He's talking about Yuna and Tidus' kiss and I'm pretty sure that was an FMV since they, especially Tidus looked the most human like in that part, I thought. It started off as a cut scene but as the music plays it goes into FMV. Anyway I loved that one too, probably my fave in FFX =)

And I think it's a steaming pile of crap. Too bad that has nothing to do with FMVs.

As much as I adore Seifer and stuck through a third of the crap that was FFVIII just for him, I like FFX's intro better. Tidus opening his eyes in time with the music, the Jecht shot, Auron watching over the city, it all pumped me up for the game much better than FFVIII did.

I dunno, I didn't like the Machalania forest scene. It was beautiful, yeah, but way too cheesy.

And FFX's ending, of course-- beautiful, heart-warming, tear-jerking. Much better than FFVII's, which was really lacking considering how good the game itself was.

And I liked the FFVII FMV of Aeris' death just because I sighed in relief and thought, "NOW we're getting somewhere."

You cruel, cruel person! Is your heart made of stone? Do you feel nothing for the characters you've just spent the best part of 8 hours with? How do you think Aerith felt?

Darn, my post got lost with the move.

And as I said before, Aerith doesnt feel, she didnt feel, she isnt real. Eight hours with polygon characters does not constitute an emotional connection.

My favourite would be the grinding down the chain by the FFX crew, and nearly most the scenes from FFX. and now if they had decent lookin FFX type FMVs for FFVII, like the bike scene, or aeries death...drools... thats y i canot wait until Advent Children
