Samurai Renkei

I was wondering if ne one could explain the samurai Renkei , i dont know ability? I am a noob in this game and have heard everyone talking about it. Was thinking of becoming a Samurai eventually.

I did see a chart online that listed a bunch of weapons and i guess elemental damages associated with these weapons but i was a bit confuse and i am sure missed the point of the chart.

Would greatly appreciate ne heads up on where i could find good explanation of this skill.

Renkai isn't a skill, it's basically japanese for weapon skill. Which is when Player A does a weapon skill (the things that require TP) and then Player B does another one and then they get a effect (for example detonation)

Renkai, or skill chains are used when 2 weapon skills are done that correspond to each other within a certain time of each other (abotu 3 seconds apart)

A example would be me as my monk using my weapon skill Shoulder Tackle, then a samurai uses his weapon skill Tachi: Hobaku and then the end result is we also get a additional effect of Fragmentation which will do extra damage.

Its basically mandatory later on if you are going to do enough dmg to easily kill a monster, and if you can do it well then ur not a good meleer...so practice.

BLMs and WHMs(and RDMs too ;)) can cast a spell of the appropiate Renkei element right after the effect of the Renkei shows, this will be called a Magic Burst, this will even add more effect and dmg, at later lvls, if done right it can take out 3/4+ portion of the monster's HP. So its mandatory.

I have heard of weapon skills, though i am still a novice in there use.

I was reading about this in another board. Someone was commenting on the fact that samurai had to use katana not polearms so that the could renkei. I mistakenly took this to mean that renkei was some ability that was used only by samurai with katana. After looking at a better weapon skill chain chart i now know he meant that there are more options with the katana to renkei then witht eh polearms.
