What things have people you know said or misunderstood about Final Fantasy, which you've found really funny?

Yesterday I had the forums open and my mum was in my room, she looked at the screen and at the banner (which had been Christmassied up with the hat on Sephiroth, etc) and said "Did you put the hat on that girl?"

I was like, "Who are you talking about?" and then she looked at the picture again and said, "Oh is it a girl..?" and I was like, no, that's Sephiroth he's a bad guy. Then I explained that some of the FF baddies do look a little feminine ^_^

And I drew a picture of Vivi with some moogles once... I showed it to some guys in my tutor at college and they said, "why did you draw flying pigs?".

I also made a website for an assignment once with some animated chocobos, and one of my guy friends said, "You're obsessed with rubber duckies". xD

So has anything like this happened to you, that's amused you?

My mother once walked in on me playing FFVII, and seemed to think that Cloud was a girl (but that wasn't when he was in drag, that was just from the status portrait)

And in FFIX my little cousin refused to accept that the Moogles weren't actually "White guinea pigs". Although fair enough, as guinea pigs sure do rule.

I was having my mom and dad watch "The Spring" and and they ruled it off as a sex scene. So they walked off thinking they went under water to get naughty. They never saw the rest of it so they didn't know.

One time this guy asked me, "Why do they call it 'Final' Fantasy if they keep making new games? That doesn't sound final to me!"

I decided that it was the funniest and most clever thing I had ever heard anyone say!

On Kawaii's note, I, myself have had the same complaint... Coming from... Myself... I just think it's a bit redundant to name each one Final Fantasy... But alas... I came to a conclusion that should satisfy my retentive nature...

I look at it in the way that each, "Final Fantasy", is the "Final Fantasy" for that particular setting... It's like, Square developed multiple dimensions and universes, (all of them possessing a Cid strangely), and set a "Final Fantasy" in each... So while they call them Final Fantasy 1-12 and such, the number referrs to the corresponding universe/dimension... It's a vague explanation, but it's all my tiny little brain can think of...

Well, they could be all on the same world, except seperated by thousands of years.

But each game is so radically different... In some ways. Such as magic... In the first few games, they mooched magic off crystals and gems... In the later games it turned into a unified planetary entity/spirit, like Gaia and the lifestream... Sorry to break it to you, but they're not the same universe... Not even thousands, hell millions of years apart could magic crystals turn into a unified planetary energy source. So... Nyah...

I still laugh thinking about it. So true...

My cousin thought that Final Fantasy II and onwards were all direct sequels to Final Fantasy I.

No. The first game was called Final Fantasy because Square was on the verge of bankruptcy in '87 and Mr. Sakaguchi figured it would be the last game he'd ever have a hand in. He didn't imagine that it would ever become popular enough to spawn a series of sequels.

Old news.

That is funny...I used tot hink about it that way when my sis was into FF and I wasn't...

And yeah, the whole 'Final' thing was about the story where they thought it was gonna be the last game they did, then bam it becomes on of the most popular games in history. But I think its a good thing they kept the name because all the FFs are the final ones, if you think about it...well they were unlit FFX-2 came about...so much for tradition.

Anyway...I remember when I first got FFIX my dad walked in and it was on an FMV with a close up of Queen Brahne and he said "wow he looks freaky.

My cousin Matthew kept saying I had a girl walking in fire on my PC desktop...that girl was Sephiroth.

Thats about all I can think of, though my foster parents would of deemed every FF game evil if they ever would of saw me play them:D. I remember when they banned me from having any Resident Evil games.

"Why do they just stand there and jump about looking like idiots. Why don't he just go and hit 'em?"
~My father, watching FF8

"If they have a airship, why can't they just land it on something else except grass?"
~My sister, watching me on FF4

"Why is that boy got a tail and is hanging around with a muppet and a little girl? What weird game is this"
~My father (sigh) watching FF9

"Why are you playing a game with lesbians?"
~My father (sigh) seeing the bit FF10 when Yuna & Tidus kiss

"I don't like that FF, they all look strange"
~My mum on FF8 & FF10, yet she likes FF9. Ok........

My mom walking by my room and hearing noises while I was playing a certain scene in FFX-2 Giving LeBlanc a massage
-"If you're gonna watch porno, atleast close your door!"

Then there was a scene in FFX where Rikku is freaking out on the Thunder Plains. My dog always perks up when she hears her voice and stares at the tv. She even whimpers some times. Good stuff. I have a save point on one of my memory cards at that scene just so I can freak my dog out. :)

If YOU got into a fight, would you just stand around and wait for your opponents "turn" to be up?

well i was surprized but when i was buying FFXI the checkout clerk who was about twenty said simply, "someday this will die"

my brother thinks there is far too many of them and my mother thinks they're all the same(she thinks all games are the same though )

Uh, my mom has thought Sephiroth was a girl hundreds of times. One time, I was playing FF7, and I was in a battle. My mom walked in and asked, "Why are you playing the Macarena?"

When I bought VIII after VII, my mom asked, "Why are you buying the same game again?"

And, strangely enough, I was playing FF7, fighting Emerald Weapon, and my friend, who had never seen an FF played before, said, "Why don't you whoop out with some medieval knight crap?" The next turn I used Knights of the Round.

Ya know about the turn based thing.. thats kinda true. Makes me think of me playing Kingdom Hearts this morning. I was fighting Riku for the second time and I mean honestly, screw this keyblade. Why doesnt sora pull out a key-bazooka and blow his *bleep*ing head off.... Ya know if I were an ff charachter, I'd pull out a sword and kick some arse.... screw taking turns.

my uncle fell in love with Kuja....I wasnt able to speak for atleast 10 min. because of laughter, and when I told him it was a guy...he said he was damn sexy...I had to put the game up then because I just couldnt look at the screan without laughing.

My dad commented that Cloud was a gay when he was in Dons place, and Don had chosen him for the night...That was desturbing.Later, maybe afew weeks later,he saw the scean with Zack and Cloud inthe back of the truck and had even more....lovely stuff to say about our dear Cloud Strife.

Another really amusing thing was when my sister(being 7) whistled in the final battle with Sephiroth being shirtless.I dunno why,i just found it extreamly amusing.Mother kept giving her looks the rest of the night.

My friend insists that chickens cannot be blue, and that people could never ride on one.I try to explain that they are Chocobos, didnt work.Next morning shes got me eating a chicken sandwich and say 'Jee,for a 'Chocobo lover' you sure do like the taste of them'.It was amusing at the time.

sorry, but i have to disagree. cause in 8 & 9, Zell & Zidane both make references to Cloud.

I heard a rumor, that squaresoft was going bankrupt, so they made one LAST game, Final Fantasy I, and it sorta took off from there & regained their empire, and continued to make more, because it sold very well

My mother once said me: Why Final Fantasy? I thought a lot about it and I couldn't answer her. Now I ask: Why Final Fantasy? Why we have some great Square games like Xenogears, that are not FF? Xenogears could be FF8 or 9! Why Final Fantasy Tactics is not in these numbers? It has storyline to be more than a FF! I want to know the criteria to choose games to enter in these FFnumber.

whoa...thats deep. very deep.
maybe they start off thinking about making them an FF..then the story changes the title.
I can attempt to explain the Xenogears thing. I think it wasn't part of teh FF series, cause it was a biblical game. ethics, morals, life, death, god, heaven, hell, genesis..etc. not many (if any) FF's have ver strong biblical references.

After I collected 10 of EVERY monster, defeating all area, species and original creations at the monster arena, my parents get really annoyed when they hear the fanfare. It really irritates them. D:

When I train for ages, Auron says "No time to waste, let's go" a lot. This is when my brother goes, "why the hell don't you just listen to Auron and move on FFS?!"

During the Kimahri vs. Other Ronsos battle at Mt. Gagazet, a few friends of my parents were supporting Kimahri, offering words of encouragement. ("go on, you can do it! Ouch, don't worry, don't give up now!")

-FFVIII
Parents absolutely stunned by the opening movie. Then after the movie, when the real game starts, they're like, "oh, so the rest of the game doesn't look as good after all."

My younger brother ran off in fright when I fought Ultimecia. No honestly, in fright.
