Weird Illustrator 10 problem

I can't get the "Layers" window to open. I'm sure it did when I first got Illustrator, but now it won't open at all whether I select it from the menu, or press the shortcut key (F7). Most of the other panels open as far as I can tell.

It's annoying as it means I can't use more than one layer!! Which might become a problem...can anyone help?

Check that it's not minimized in some corner of the screen or out of the screen if Illustrator doesn't requier the actione windows to be inside a main window. I had that happen to me in PS6, one was hidden behind another.

It doesn't seem to be that and I've tried everything I can think of except uninstalling it and installing it again >< Thanks though :)
