Speaker problems

Well my speakers as of lately have been messing up. I don't know why, but they just aren't playing sound with good quality or even the same volume I set it to. For example I have it set on the lowest volume possible and yet it fluctuates between little sound to the highest it can go. Is there anyway to fix this or is my speakers a lost cause and I need to get new ones?

I have no clue about hardware stuff, but it might be your sound card drivers. You might want to check the manufacturers website and download the most recent drivers.
