Is this just a 'working version' of the forum? Should I expect a sudden flood of 'old' threads in the coming week/days/months?

Yes, it's a working version :p You see the IP in titlebar since the DNS entries haven't been dealt with yet, otherwise yes, it's the new server. The lack of threads is the mass prune Cid warned about in an earlier announcement. Nothing needs to be added since everything was carried across before pruning. And I don't see Unne babbling anywhere :p

No, I have removed most everything. There are a few archieve worthy threads somewhere else... they need to be sorted. The old database (all the posts) is still around, but I wanted to start fresh. It's funner.

I've not given the backup to anyone. All the threads that I 'saved' are now back in their respective forums (ie, a few random threads in GC and the stickied threads in EoEO / World Events - that's it).

So are all the threads started since like 12:04 *EDIT* this morning (I was on when it switched, but the exact time isnt important) going to be gone in the next few days or week?

If you I would appreciate from the bottom of my heart, if someone would backup my thread started in EOEO right before the final switch, I'd really like to see that one through.

If you mean move the lone thread and posts off the old server onto here, that would be <i>extremely</i> hard to do, and would take a lot of work to ensure it doesn't corrupt the database here on top of that. (Second thoughts make me think it's near impossible, with the way posts/threads are ID'd and incremented each time one is added.)

Basically I took a snapshot of the entire site at the time I said in the announcement, and we put that on this new server, and this is where we're now posting. Like I warned in the announcement, anything new added after I did that 'snapshot' would get lost, because it would added to the old database only, and not the copy being transferred.

Best I could do is download the single thread if you still want it (assuming the old server is still accessible) and attach it or something, but it wouldn't be postable in or part of the forums/database here.


The backup we're talking about is basically the state of the forum at the time I did that snapshot, so the only threads it will have that's not on the new site are ones pruned after we moved and before opening the new place to you guys, but will have nothing after the snapshot.

Yeah that was the thread. Unne has already backed up the copy of what I wrote and PM'ed it to me. I have it running on this server, but is the not the final "new" server? For example, will any thread made today be deleted in the coming days/weeks? Or is it all done and from here on out we're on the new server??

We're all done then, apart from maybe the odd glitch (namely white page of death) :p I guess it might be deleted in a normal prune in 6 months time or so :p

It's been the new server machine since you saw the redirect message at the normal site, just waiting for Sean to finish a few other things regarding email etc. before he changes it so you can use the normal eyesonff.com instead of the IP address in the tool bar for this server.

good, so new threads will stay for a bit (im assuming) yeah i saw my 1st white page at like 12:02, last night (EST USA) and i've only had one today, and I'll just reload the site in a new window, then press refresh in the white page one, and its all back to noramal.
