Seeing as how you just went through a rather large amount of effort to move the entire site to another server and possibly to end up paying cash out of your own pockets to cater to the whims of IE-users, is there any slight possibility that someone might take the ten or fifteen minutes necessary to fix the photo album so that it works in browsers other than IE?

IE-users need to get some freakin' brains. >=o

All I want is a photo album to look at. I don't want to argue about which browser is better. (Remember this, you'll never hear those words leave my mouth again.)

Are you having problems with functionality or is it just the look and feel of it, like the corners not being rounded right?

The fact that the interface graphics are spread semi-randomly around the page is kind of distracting, yes. There are also links I can't even click because there are graphics going right through the middle of them.

Odd. I'm using Firebird and the only problem I have is that the corners are rounded funny for the backgrounds. Everything else works and looks fine.

In the boys' photo section, the very top of the list (Proto) has three pictures listed. There's a horizontal bar going right through the links though. The links for pictures 2 and 3 are not clickable; I can't even hover over them, it thinks I'm clicking on the graphic.

Odd, it works for me. I'm only using version 0.6 though.

Unne, feel free to code us up a page if you have the know how. You'd probably be the better person for doing that. If I knew how to code it for your browser, believe me, I'd do it. But I'm not that good yet. I learned HTML through fixing existing EoFF pages. xD Before I was doing that, I couldn't do crap. >_>;

Someone already did, and the album was fixed at some time, but apparently it got un-fixed at some point. It's been un-fixed for quite some time.

Re-uploaded. Let me know if your problem is fixed.
EDIT: Yeah, yeah. I'm looking into it now.
EDIT: Does it work now?
EDIT: I also changed it so that Home goes to the frontsite, instead of being a second link the forums.

It's good, thank you sir.
EDIT: My picture in the ablum seems to be a broken link. I see how it is now. :)
You're so ugly you broke the link!
(and just in case it isn't obvious, I'm joking)

That might quite likely be because on the old server, there was a drunne.jpg and drunne.JPG in the same folder, but since we're still in the dark ages of Windows, we couldn't back up both so randomly discarded one of them, which clearly was the wrong one :p I'll let BoB fix that by editing the webpage, rather than renaming the other file to uppercase extension myself :p

You guys have no idea how often clout does this. Almost every single post that clout makes in the exDee forum (aka Senior Site Staff forum) is "oh, by the way, this needs fixing because I don't like the way it is. I mean, it's not bad, but it could be better. I don't like the way it's coded, even though it doesn't make any difference to how the page appears or anything. But I want you to do it instead of me, even though I'm perfectly capable and would probably do a far more efficient job." :( Bastardly heckler.

Fun, ain't it? :D It has the advantage that you download the page anyway, otherwise I'd be randomly editing things (absolute/relative URLs was my last suggestion before this, I think) and you'd have to keep downloading everything to work off :p Or do you download before working anyway? I don't know. Perhaps we need a more efficient way of doing this so every time someone changes something on the main site, everyone else knows, so everyone has the latest working version. CVS is probably too complicated for this. Maybe we should discuss it in xD :p

Now let's imagine what changing a lightbulb would take...

Tell everyone to download a copy of any file they edit right before they edit it, and upload it when they're done. That's what I used to do when someone helped me with my website and we might accidentally be editing the same files.

Wait. What? Am I supposed to do something?

nah it's good..I think. I use IE so I can't be bothered to hear some faint yelping from some angry "firebird" users.

Just please don't unfix it again in the future, now that it's fixed.

When I was reading through this I was thinking to myself "Is Mandee just editing the local files and uploading it over the 'new' one?"
If that's the case, then 'unfixing' it might happen again.

I just renamed the file locally on the server. I guess Shlup had better redownload it to make sure her local copy on her Windows file system is using the correct case :p

I don't update the index page at all; I don't know how the old index page got moved instead of the fixed version.
Dr Unne
02-01-2004, 12:44 AM
If by "moved" you mean the server move, I'm pretty sure the album was broken for a long time before the server move too.
Shlup

That's wierd then. I haven't updated the index page since uploading the fixed version. Oh well, it shouldn't happen again.

Yeah, if it was that vital I probably would've complained about it much earlier.
