I'm quite disappointed to see that word (excuse me for saying it now) biatch is being filtered out, as is the other word for "arse", etc. :/

I know this is a family forum etc, but isn't this a bit over the top?

From what I know, Sean needed it to get the site approved for the Google ads. Is it permanent? I have no idea, go ask him :p Do I think it's over the top? Personally, not really :p

Well, maybe not CLOUT.>:O But me, Mikael, LIVES from the words b itch and a ss. -_- I was surprised that the word "sex" wasn't filtered out. :rolleyes2

Google has done what I tried for years to do and failed. *wipes away a tear of joy*

I don't see why swearing is so so important. :rolleyes2

It's not so much the swearing, as the not being cencored so some guy can get 5 cents a click untill google says ":skull::skull::skull::skull: you, we don't wanna pay anymore, your site has too many people clicking" is what's important.

I don't mean swearing...it's not important. But those arse and biatch? It's not much of swearing, in my opinion, but oh well...

Yeah, you might be right. We should get rid of the ads and keep the swear filter. Then everyone will be happy.

What the hell?

EDIT: Ok, my favorite swear isn't filtered so I really don't give a crap.

Your opinions have all been noted and we will be sure to keep them in mind if/when Cid decides to review how to run his own website. :) But seriously, yeah, we know. But this is how things are, and it will be dealt with if we ever feel that there is a valid need and reason. For now, you'll have to live with it. You'll be fine, I'm sure. If you need to find forums in which to swear in, I'm sure they're out there somewhere. :p

Hey cool guy, guess what? No more complaining until I get your check in the mail paying for 1tb of bandwith a month. Perhaps you've forgotten that we're providing a free service. You've got your pick of plenty of other ff websites if this one isn't doing it for you, but from what I know, you'd get banned if you tested out some of their "swear filters".

Sure I can live without those words and I can deal with it, and understand now, as it was something necessary. And AGAIN, I didn't say I'm for swearing. :\

Just giving feedback here, that's what this forum is for, right? So often people here starts suggesting then: " Go find some forums where you can do this and that blah" and I find it funny.:)

I wasn't at all annoyed with what you said, Mikztsu. In all honesty, I'll probably bring the cursing back in a while, although I suddenly feel much less encouraged to do so.

I think I know why the word "bi***h" is being filtered now, I think I know of a certain sombody who overused it alot.

Oh, you said in the wpod thread that they were hosting you for free, and I didn't know that had changed.

I also implore you to add "diet" to the word filter.

how about a filter that blocks all references to food from joel's posts? that would be great imo.

I dislike curse filters on principle, but honestly, for here, I couldn't give a damn. The only swear words I use with any consistancy are "hell" and "damn" anyway.

Ah well. I'm surprised ed hasn't posted in here yet.

At least add the skulls back, because the gaping hole where my words should be reminds me of Goatse man's gaping hole, and that makes me sad.

And you don't use a bloody terabyte >=o

Look, I'm completely sympathetic to the fact that Google Ads makes swear filtering compulsory. That's fine. If I had enough bloody traffic to run my site on ads, I'd do so. I'm a sell-out by nature.

But you (and by "you" I mean Matt, Daniel, and Sean specifically) don't have to get all rolleyes when people complain about it. I'd be so much more happy with a simple "Yes we know it sucks but it's paying the bills okay" than a "No one's forcing you to come here, jerk, so either stop whining or start paying me for hosting or leave." But then, this website is free, so you don't have to be nice to the users.

Cid

The only time I came close to saying "no one is forcing you to come here jerk" was because of a specific comment made earlier (which I quoted above), which implyed that I was getting rich at the expense of your consorship.

I have no problem with the complaining about not being able to curse. I curse all the time, here and at home. But I don't appreciate it being implied that I am taking advantage of Google til they find out I'm a fraud or something, all the while I'm getting rich. Two very different things, I think. But meh.

I hate all swear filters on general principle, but in this case, I suppose I should just be happy that I don't have to enforce it.

Well, that's an exception. :skull::skull::skull::skull::skull: is an abomination which should be removed from the human consciousness.
