View Full Version : Something worth discussing

I think the forums need more moderators. It's not that there are tons of threads to close and not enough people. I think another role of forum staff is to set an example by posting often around the MB. While we have a few staff members who do post often and are highly visible, I feel like in the past, when we had more active staff members, the general population of EoFF had a better idea of how to behave as a forum member.
Just a thought. Does that make any sense?
Del Murder

Yes it does. I think it's good to have a large diverse group involved in the decision-making process in any environment. A few people have stepped down and it shows a bit.

The rest of Staff make fun of me whenever I say we need more Staff for non-moderating-purposes. :(

I just advise the mods or knights when there are some discrepencies in the forums. *has no power but the power of tattle tale* xD Maybe more staff who are in different time zones would be an idea so there's always someone on there that can keep an eye on things? *shrugs*

Clearly Matt wants to be a Mod again. Go for it.
Some more would be nice though, yeah. There really aren't too many active ones.

For solely moderating purposes, even for a board this large, you need a handful of mods.
However, moderating is only part of a good mod's job.

Rather than making more global moderators like there are now perhaps put a handful of people in different times in charge of one or more of the forums, kind of like how the election "positions" are boken up now?
Loony BoB
02-05-2004, 08:57 PM
We won't be using forum mods. We don't really need any more mods for that purpose, anyway. The main reason that people in this thread think we need more mods is so we have more people showing examples in the general forums as well has having more people voicing opinions in the staff forum on matters that affect every one of you who post in EoFF. That kinda stuff. To be honest, I don't think we've ever had EoFF be this 'peaceful' for a long time. We're doing fine for moderation. :)
Flying Mullet
02-05-2004, 09:03 PM
Well then let's stir it up!
Of course, one of the "prizes" for winning the election is that you have to post a meaningful response in every thread in your respective forums every day. ;)

I suggest that EoFF become a democratic republic, instead of being an oligarchy.
We could have serious elections that actually determine who gets power, but there have to be restrictions on who can run. Like this:
1. You may not be edczxcvbnm.
I thought Restricted Members was for this kind of stuff.

Giving opinions/suggestions in the staff forum is probably the most important job a staffer has.
Therefor, Loony BoB is a better staffer at FG than the entire staff there combined. :D

Their frequency and typical lack of humorous or insightful content, for starters.
Actually, I don't believe anyone would mind them if not for their frequency. Believe it or not, you're not obligated to reply to every thread in General Chat! In fact, it's better if you don't. The more frequently one posts, the less humorous and insightful one's posts tend to be.
