if auron is an unsent then why doesnt he turn into a fiend like everyother unsent?

I think it might be because he is just so strong that he can't be turned into a weak fiend. Kind of like how Seymour became a unsent and not a fiend when he died, or Yunalesca.
That's my theroy at least.

Lulu's explanation to Tidus went along the lines of, "something something something envy, which leads to anger, which leads to hate....something something something..."
You can ignore that, but I think that if the unsent does not envy/hate the living then they won't turn into a fiend (which in turn hurts the living)

Plus, his devotion to the promise he made to Jecht probably helped. He had a purpose, he wasnt just unsent because he didnt want to be dead, he had a purpose, a reason to stay.

Think of it as he had an "unfinished business."

I believe it's because of Yuna having to need to target someone to use the sending ritural on them and only the target(s) are sent, and those that aren't targets aren't sent.
That's what I think anyways.

Mika, Auron and (to a lesser extent) Seymour didn't become Fiends or pass to the Farplane because they were 'bound' to this world by promises and devotion. The strength of will they each had, enabled them to keep their thoughts intact. Mika was devoted to Spira and to ensuring that Summoners always kept going on the Pilgrimage, Auron was bound by his promise to Jecht, that he'd watch over Tidus; Seymour couldn't fade because he was determined to rid Spira of all life. As soon as Mika realised that Yunalesca was dead, he felt that Spira had lost all hope, and he passed over to the Farplane. Auron intended to do the same once Sin was defeated and he'd fulfilled his promise to Jecht.
As for Auron surviving the Sending... Bahamut2000X is right. The ritual has a limited range. In the Al Bhed Home, the Summoners advise the party to stay at a safe distance while they send the Al Bhed guards.

when ynua sent lord jyscal you could hear auron trying to fight it so its not a limited range!

He was standing right there, not on the far side of the room like the other times.
Did Yuna actually send Jyscal, or did Jyscal just dissipate after trying to leave the Farplane?
I definitely noticed Auron's reaction, though.
