All About the 80's

Let's talk about the 80's. Let's find out some good things that you enjoyed about that decade, if you could remember.

The 80's was truly a golden age for cartoons.

But I was only alive two years in the 80s. I don't remember anything.

80's cartoons rocks. Its difficult to find anything good these days.
The music, especially punk. The 80's was the friggin heyday of punk rock.
Movies like 'The Breakfast Club', 'Sixteen Candles', and so on. Those were 80's, right? Yeah.

The NES, and the Stray Cats. I loved the Stray Cats when I was only 1 and a 1/2.

Ah....the only thing that come to mind, really. I was only 8 when the decade ended after all. =P

Yep, only one of the Star Wars movies came out in the 70s.

Lots of awesome stuff came out in the 80s or became popular in the 80s; Transformers, miniature GI Joes (not the 12" tall ones), Legos, Nintendo (Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, Contra, etc..), He-Man, fun hair bands (Van Halen, Def Leopard, Motley Crue, Poison, etc...) Indiana Jones, and on and on.

My enthusiasm could be because I was a budding child in the 80s, but who knows.

There were a load of one hit wonders in that era, but it produced some good music too (AC/DC's Back in Black, a couple Floyd albums, Van Halen, and I think U2's the Josua Tree was made then as well...). As for movies, The Breakfest Cludb the Labyrinth, UHF, the Goonies and some other good ones.

The 80's only stand out for cartoons and videogames, and I believe that the 80's were the golden age of both. Call it nostalgia if you will, but I think I was more amazed and enthralled by my original NES than any system to follow. 80's cartoons such as Danger Mouse, He Man, Mask, and Go Bots were staples of my childhood television viewing.

I don't know how old you people are, but I was born in '79 and I know less about the 80's culture than you guys do, even though I came here around mid '85. Anyway:

crazy cartoons that make no sense. Pro-american cartoons like GI Joe which was a marketting gimmick for Hasbro.

New Kids on the Block. MC Hammer. Vanilla Ice. Some other one hit wonders.

I dunno....the 80's was only good for some of you weirdos who actually cared about pop culture.

Cartoons like He-Man, G.I. Joe and Transformers might have been gimicks to get us to buy the toys, but who cared? I loved taking my G.I. Joes and He-Man out in the backyard and tearing it up.

And Voltron! That was such a cool cartoon, and one of the original "5-robots-make-a-big-robot" toys. :)

You know, the 80s were good because Zelda started then. I still remember trying to figure out all of those puzzles in the labrynths and the over-world. I still remember learning that you could walk through walls on the second quest, and burning trees to find stair cases and pushing blocks to make passageways appear. Because all of the puzzles were new and original, it made the game that much more magical and awesome. :)
