Here I am doing another post related to Sonic, heh.

Which one of the old Sonic games (the ones before Sonic Adventure 1) was your favorite, and why did you like it so much?

Sonic 2 for me. It was the first game I played when I had Sega and it's still a nice game to play. The end credits were beautiful, the gameplay was awesome and it was nice beating Robotnik and all his odd cadgets. I don't know why I liked this Sonic game the best - perhaps it's so because it was the first Sonic game I've ever played. But, Sonic 2 is dear to my heart and one of the best platformers I've played in my life. Sonic & Knuckles would be my second favourite. :)

Yeah, Sonic 2 because I had good time playing for hours with my friend.

Sonic CD rules. Think about it, it has one of the best storylines I'd ever seen in a sonic game, the most levels, and it introduces one of the most badassed villains in a Sonic game. Metal Sonic.

Sonic 2, hands down still one of the greatest games ever made.

What!?!?! NO docter robotniks mean beam machine?

Its a hard choice. Sonic 1 was the first one I had and I have a lot of nostalgic memories with it (That jungle zone boss. I was only young). Sonic 2 probably was the best but it seemed a bit generic to me. I really liked sonic 3 but it only had 6 LEVELS!???! Although the ice level was exelent if only for the snowboarding section at the beggining. and the fact that all the levels slotted together in some way was a nice touch. I dont think I have played sonic 3D or CD. and I didnt personaly own sonic and knuckles but my freind did. He also had sonic 32 which had weird characters like a aligator, a bumble be and a chamelion that I didn't really like.

So Ill go to the bonus round. Sonic 1 had the buitifully simple rotating stage with bumpers that I wanted to slowly dismantle and place it back to gether in a slight different place so I was at the end. sonic 2 had a weird 3d racing game that could be done in 2 player that I quite liked. Sonic 3 had a strange 3d puzzle game that you needed to do to get super sonic (GOD THAT IS THE BEST HIDDEN THING EVER. I need to get a pic of him). And I cant remember sonic and knuckle very well but I seem to recall something about a machine and things falling.

Well on a basis of deduction I will have to go with sonic 3 (despite the lack of levels) because of the nice little touches, and super sonic. Always with the super sonic. Although sonic 2 had some great 2 player sections that almost temped me to choose it.

Also joel I'm not sure but I seem to recall from somewhere that metal sonic was called metelex or something along those lines, although I dont thing I've even seen a Megadrive CD.

Sonic 3 attached to the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge. The ability to save your game, go Hyper Sonic/Knuckles/Tails AND go through both Sonic 3 levels AND S&K levels? Hands down favourite.

Hey whats hyper sonic? I've never heard of that. I knew you could put S&K into sonic 3 though.

When you collected all 7 of the bigger Chaos Emeralds, Hyper Sonic would be a step up from Super Sonic in which he's not only gold, but he glows in a prismatic way. The stars are around him as usual, but he goes a lot faster, and when you use his jump attack, it destroys everything on the screen.

Ok a little Sonic Trivia. Counting all of the emeralds in all of the games (Chaos, Time Stones, Super Emerals, etc.) how many are there?

Sonic 2, definitely. My first and always my favorite. <3

My favorite zone ever is Icecap Zone in Sonic 3, though.

Sonic 2. My first Sonic game, and personally, the most challenging.

I have no idea joel. Honestly not a clue. I didn't even know there were stories or the emeralds had names.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. Great graphics for its day (and the limitations of the Genesis), refined gameplay, tons of bosses, enormous and ingeniously designed levels (each character can use his unique abilities to find different routes through many stages), and an extremely satsifying finale make for a legendary game. The music was catchy, too; love that pumpin' Doomsday theme.

Its has to be adding Sonic 3 onto the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge. Nothing will ever beat it, not if Sonic Heroes is anything to go by...

Sonic Two for Mega Drive/Genesis is still awesome. Sonic and Knuckles is the best, with the whole backwards compatible feature.

Sonic Three for Master system is good in that you can sonic spin, and you can play as Tails. Sonic Two, on the other hand, drove me mad as I couldn't get all of the emeralds and there was some nonsense about hidden levels with a Silver Sonic and you could free Tails blah blah blah.

Therefore, for Megadrive I recommend Sonic Two, but for Master System/Game Gear I recommend the original Sonic the Hedgehog in all its glory.

Thank you.

Old???? Sonic CD was a relatively new game. I just couldn't be bothered to get a CD add on. Or the 32x. Just seemed a waste o' money. Oh and was sonic ever on the master system. My memory is blurred :rolleyes2 .

I played Sonic CD in its day, and it's still probably my third favorite game after StH3&K and StH2. I loved the cutscenes, the time-travel element, and all the hidden scenes and features that could be unlocked. Really wish they'd rerelease it, especially now that I've lost track of my Sega CD.

There were three Sonic games for the Master System: Sonic the Hedgehog, StH2, and Sonic & Tails (a.k.a. Sonic Chaos). They were all eventually ported to the Game Gear; Sonic & Tails 2 (a.k.a. Sonic Triple Trouble) was the only game specifically made for the Game Gear.

I had one called sonic spin for game gear. well something like that, It had sonic on a spinny platform with a drill inderneath it. And I havn't seen that anywhere else. That reminds me. I gotta find my game gear again.

Sonic Spinball was originally made for the Genesis, and a Game Gear version shortly followed. The GG also hosted Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Labyrinth, and I believe--through some great injustice--a version of Sonic Blast (a.k.a. Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island). But really, nobody cares.

By the way, Joel. There was a Metal Sonic enemy in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as well as Sonic & Knuckles.

Sonic CD's Metal Sonic is completely different from the mechanical Sonic seen in StH2 and S&K, primarily in that he has something of a personality. He's a character in his own right rather than just another boss contraption.

Also true, but the S&K one beat both the Sonic CD and StH2 Metal Sonics in appearance.

Metal Sonic

The Mecha Sonic that appears in Sonic 2 for the Megadrive is bigger and coloured Grey.

Note to everyone, never doubt my knowledge of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Ouch, chosing hurts. I think I liked Sonic 2 with Sonic and Knuckles best It was just fun to glide through all the levels, and it was a little harder at the final boss because Knuckels couldn't jump high enough to hit Robotnick.

I loved the way you could play Sonic 2 with Sonic and Knuckles. <3 Knuckles.

Sonic 2, 3 and Knuckles were brilliant games I need to play again someday.

Sonic 2 was my favourite. I love Sonic 1 cos it was the first one I owned and it was fun and I loved Starlight Zone. But no rolling and no Tails. =(

Sonic 3 had advantages like Tails being able to fly, but I didn't like some of the levels so much.

Sonic 2 was just about right, lots of fun levels and Tails, plus being able to play as Tails running behind Sonic in a 1 player game was kinda fun. Bonus levels were cool although I preferred Sonic 3's, and loved Mystic Cave zone.

I liked Sonic spinball a lot too though but never got very far.

I loved the Ice Cap Zone in Sonic 3, the music was nice too. With the snowboard on the first act too, that was pretty fun.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG GAMES KICK SOME SERIOUS ASS. I MEAN IT.
well, number one was cool, but it wasn't like 2 or 3, or even sonic and knuckles. I LOVED COMBINING SONIC AND KNUCKLES WITH SONIC 3. All of the Sonic games were a lot of fun-but I'd have to go with 2. the casino level was pretty hard for me though, you know, the one where sonic and tails had to keep jumping on that thing in order to move on and tails always went first...ah, too hard to explain.:(

One of my friends has a special cart, if you put any Sonic game in the top, you can play as Sonic or Knuckles, even on the original.(Seriously)
