Brian Carper = Dr. Unne.

What does Dr. Unne do? Why, he carps of course.

Carping was one of my vocabulary words in English, and it made me think of him.

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=carping

That page explains the term, and I want to know if you guys and gals agree that Carper is quite the carper.

My last name is Czech for "little nut," so it kind of fits me too. ...Just thought I'd toss that in for the sake of converation.

I meant that I don't think that Linus deserves a gold star, but you posted before I did.

I still don't think so though. Brian is just honest in what he says.

Does it really seem like I nag?

Linus
02-20-2004, 03:32 AM
Not nag, carp!

Dr Unne
02-20-2004, 03:34 AM
That's what it means. To nag, or to find fault in insignificant details.

Linus
02-20-2004, 03:34 AM
I know, but I want you to say carp.

Yamaneko
02-20-2004, 03:46 AM
We all nag. There are a lot of people who nag more than you, Unne.

My last name's meaning fits me. I suppose after living with your name for so long, however, and liking it, you can relate to it rather easily.

I should like to think Unne carps constructively instead of incessantly nagging.

Cid

Indeed he is quite a carper.

My last name is Swedish and it means spur. You know, like spur on horses.

Nait

Spåre? No, that's "track" as in "animal track".

Mikztsu

No, it's not. It's older word for Kannus ( Spur). I asked my dad, and Salla's dad got it also for some weird reason, eventhough he's a teacher. Our family coat of arms also has spur, so it makes sense.

Pelz, ven. Schubin. - Mekkonen, Takkinen, saks. Wamsler, Kappe. - Hihonen. - Kormano. - Pöksyläinen, Nahkapöksy, Suurhousu. - Wirsu, Laapotti, Löttönen, Kautonen, Tallus, vert. saks. Schuh, Stiefel, Stiebel, Strümpfler. - Kannus, Sporn, Spohr, Sporer, Spohrmann, ruots. Spåre.

Hah, beat Nait in language-something. :-)

I know. ;-)

But seriously, our family name is weird as I could never find it from dictionary, and every Swede I've asked about the name, they've never said they've never heard such a name. *_*

How do you make smileys bigger?

Nait

You cheat and use the img-tag and height= and weight= and width=. =|

Spåre is a cognate to "spår" (in finlandsvenska, the definite derivation of this word is /spo:re/, which I'll write as "spååre", which would mean "the track of someone or something", or "ski-track") still, though.

The good doctor and I disagree about a good many things. He does raise good points sometimes, he does contradict his own positions sometimes, and often he's too nitpicky.

BUT! he's ok. not everybody has to agree with me, and if they have evidence to support their positions and not abstract philosophical introspective babble, then I'll reconsider my positions.
