Well, I beat Cloud and Leon, but now I need help on the Ice Titan. I've heard that he's "incredibly easy", but he defeats me like yesterday's trash. I'm at level 58, and I understand to block the beams back at him, but he always manages to hit me with something, and I never have a chance to heal, because the ice spikes shoot up out of the ground.

Don't bother with that stuff, just get all of the things that make your MP gain back faster then lock onto him and stand between his legs casting gravija (I imagine other spells would work, but that's what I used) and be ready to cure after you get hit. You're not dodging hit or anything, You're just damaging him, taking damage, and getting cured.

This probably isn't going to help much, but I just ran around constantly and every once in a while hit an ice shard back, so it took me a very long time to beat him. And it also helped having curaga on the quick cast thing. So about an hour, maybe, later i beat him.

I always tried Zyx's strategy. I fought him 10 or 15 times. I actually knocked him down once, but then he shot constant ice shards at me and stuff, and I died. But I tried your strategy, AC, and I died quicker than usual.

Well, I was a significantly higher level I think when i did it, so maybe it won't work for you. I guess you need a lot of HP to do it well my way.

You can block the ice shards and they go right back and hit him. That's the way to do it. :thumb:

You mean block using the "guard" ability? Or smack them back?

Kirobaito

You can block them back, or slash. Either way, I lsoe

Keep running around to avoid the ice spikes out of the ground, as long as you keep moving you should be ok.

Yeah, I guess I just suck. I've been doing that 15 or 20 times. Oh well, now finding the 9 dalmations in the Hollow Bastion has occupied my time. I can't even find any floating treasure boxes in the castle gates.

You can also cheat like a mofo and beat him with very little effort. Stand in a corner (next to the stairs while remaining on the colliseum ground), and just about everything he throws at you will be stopped by the stairs. You can pretty much just stand there and have nothing to worry about. Pretty much....

I can't beat the ice titan either. I'm somewhere around level 60. Is that just too weak?

OLYMPUS COLISEUM

Enemies: Ice Titan (Boss); Sephiroth (Boss)
The first mystery match pits you against the fearsome Ice Titan. Be sure to be around level 78.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss Fight: Ice Titan
The trick to winning this battle is the MP trick I mentioned earlier. Equip the MP Rages and the MP Haste abilities. This way, you can heal whenever you get hurt. The Ice Titan has many attacks you should look out for. The most basic attack it has is shooting icicles at you. If you lock on to its head, you can hit the icicles back at it. This is actually the only effective way to cause damage to this boss.

Another attack it uses early on involves it shoving its hand into the ground. Icicles pop up all over the battlefield, and the first one will usually target you automatically. Use Dodge Roll to avoid this attack.

Do not cast Aeroga during this battle. Doing so will cause the icicles to become too big to hit back at it
It can also summon three large ice boulders that fall on you. When you see it spread its claws (you'll get familiar with the attack pattern) run horizontal across the screen to avoid the boulders.

It can sweep the arena with its icy breath. If you are hit by this attack, you'll freeze into and ice block. If you jump over it, be sure to glide forward a little, so you don't slip on the icy residue. A flurry of icicles always follows up this attack.

Oh yeah, and watch out for the shockwaves that emanate from the feet.

Use the icicles to cause small damage to the head (after locking on of course). After a while, the Ice Titan will keel over for a few precious seconds. Use special abilities sparingly, unless you have a lot of Ethers in stock. After taking a chunk of health away, the Ice Titan will rise once again.

Every time it gets knocked down, the Ice Titan will modify its attack pattern. After it gets knocked down a second time, you'll want to stand on the bleachers as far away as possible. It has an attack that covers everything in its immediate range and then some. If you are far enough away, you won't even be hit. If you are too close, prepare to be frozen several times. A flurry of icicles (and later ice boulders) always follows this attack.

I know, eternalshiva, I've used your guides on other battles, too, they're very good, by the way, but I just flat out can't beat this damn thing. Plus I stopped trying.

I have it now, but I notice no difference...I don't think I'm doing it right. :) (Sorry about the smilie, but I'm doing a quick reply, and I don't know any other smilie codes)

Uh...

to make sure you do not get hit by the ice shards coming out of the ground.. do a Dodge Roll over and over to avoid...

The dogde roll is given for you for that reason!
Every single one of the bosses (cept Ursela) in that game has some kind of attack where an attack comes out from under your feet.

Anyway, hit a couple ice shards back...

blast him with magic...

cure

smack some shards

blast him with a spell

cure..

I greatly understand HOW to beat him, it's the process of doing it that pains me. I can hit shards back at him fairly easy, but sometimes he sends several of them at once, and I block one but get hit by the others. And while paying attention to dodging the shards he shoots at me, I get hit with rising shards. And I never have time to cure.

You think you have it hard!? I played him at level 70, and didn't even know you could hit the ice shards back at him! So instead, I just kept shooting firaga at him, and healing... I got my magic back by using TOO many ethers, and getting the !5&* beat out of me... since your magic for some reason gets restored when guys are killing you. I think he took me an hour... later I kicked myself when I figured out that you could just reflect the shards. If your at level 60 right now or whatever, just fight sephiroth repeatedly until you get to level 80.... hes a lot easier than the Ice Titan... plus you feel good after giving sephiroth a whoopn'. Thats what I did...

I've never managed to give Sephiroth a fight. I always get captivated by "One Winged Angel" at the beginning of the fight and never try to attack him. I just seem to let him swing right through me twice and I die.

Dragonflame

In that case I would recommend you not let yourself be distracted by the music and concentrate on fighting Sephiroth. But actually I think the Ice Titan is a lot easier than Sephiroth. I've almost beaten the Ice Titan, but I have yet to get anywhere close to beating Sephiroth. Try going to Agrabah and beating Kurt Zisa if you want to level up. Or do it the old-fashioned way and wander a round killing everything you see.

Dragonflame I think we have reversed characteristics.

Why not just equip a lot of acessories that are resistant to Ice? That's how I did it.

Wow...... and nobody would have figured that out if ansem hadn't said it. Just use superglide to glide from one corner of the coloseim to the other. Stay in the cornsers and jump around a lot. Use cure and blah blah blah- just jump to avoid the spikes and cure when needed, otherwise its pretty simple. Try equipping the Angel Bangel, Atlas Armlet, and Gaia Bangle. It gives you the best increased stats. But dont worry, I'm at level 91 and I lost to him the other day from a cheap shot. He's a hard boss.

I just stood in the corner up the top of the seats and blocked the shards. Hitting him back. Eh, not so hard.

I did this battle a few times on Expert Mode and found out that, if you're good, you can beat him quite easily and quickly.

Don't bother with the Ice Accessories, equip some Strength and Defense boosters.

For Example:

Ultima Weapon.
Omega Arts x2
Crystal Crown or Titan Chain

Equip MP Haste, MP Rage x2, Air Combo Plus x3, Dodge Roll, Scan, Guard and Counter.

Guard the Ice Shards, if he sends them in a line, wait until you're about to get impaled... then Guard. All 5-7 of the shards should fly back at him. If they're in a V-shape, do the same thing and all 5 should fly back.

You can Guard against the Ice Boulders, they won't fly back... but you won't take damage.

Why do you have Counter? For his Icicle Barrage. Guard one volley and then quickly Counter. This may send back his next volley.

Ice Breath is something you just have to avoid. Superglide.

Ice Stalagmites... run like your life depends on it.

When he falls, Superglide in and unleash your 6-hit Air Combo. If you're lucky, you might get off 4 hits of a second combo.

Good Luck!

There's not much point in giving me any more strategy, I won't have my PS2 back for awhile, anyway. But thanks, Ansem.
