Heya, I was pondering about something. It was about the connection between Cloud and Zach. What is it that they have in common? Ive played through it yet again, and I still havent figured it out. Can someone please help me out?:mog:

Its been sixth months since my last playthrough but if i remember correctly they didnt have much in commen at all Zach was a Class A soldier and Cloud was a big nobody
Tifa knew both of them i think, bu tthats not really in commen now is it ^_^

Its possible that they had a lot in common, but its never stated. Zack seemed to be a lot more social than Cloud (the way he talked to Sephiroth on the ride to Nibelhiem, because of course that was Zack and not Cloud, Cloud was the carsick grunt).

But wpouldnt it be possible for him to still be alive. I mean SOLDIERS are un-normal. I mean he did have a lot of strength, training as a SOLDIER, and having the whole "glowing green eyes" bit ya know? Once I finish the first chapter lol I'll give it to ya. or I shall show you the link to it.

Not unless a SOLDIER could take 20 bullets to the head and survive, no. Even superhuman beings cant survive such an attack, especially when their brain is damaged.

Yes,Zack in the game. Many people call him Zax. demonsdragon is perhaps one of mabye three people I know of that call him Zach.Either way,it all is said the same.

He's called Zax in the Japanese script, and Zack in the English. And he's most certainly dead. He was shot into oblivion and then officially recorded as deceased in Shinra's records. That was about a day or two before Tifa found Cloud, barely conscious, at the Sector 7 station. Tifa only met Zack once, when he came to Nibelheim just before the massacre, and Zack was Aeris' girlfriend for a while.

Zack kind of represented who Cloud wanted to be, so when Hojo's experiments messed up Cloud's mind, the "illusory life" took hold and he re-created his past into something more heroic and idealised, based on Zack's experiences.

Furthermore, Cloud marks Zack's place of death (just outside Midgar) in the Advent Children trailer through the Japanese ritual (far as I know) of sticking a sword into the ground at the place of a soldier's death.

As for the connection - Zack was a role model to Cloud who was frankly a bit of a failure. When exposed to the mako capsule, Cloud lost his mind and needed something to grasp onto - when Zack died, his personality was that 'thing' to grasp and somehow he became almost the same person, even adopting his memories.

What they have in common is Aeris - Zack was her first boyfriend. That's why she fell in love with Cloud, the resemblance of Zack. But those were probably for the wrong reasons.... it does however explain why she asked to "meet YOU".

They also both new Tifa, but as far as I know Zack only met her briefly on the mission and nothing more.

In the snapshot from Nibelheim, you can see a more realistic image of Zack. He does have a bit of a resemblance to 'Sir' Laguna Loire...

Well,you cant really see Zacks spiked hair, so i suppose h had a slight appearance to Laguna.BUT,we all know he DOES have spiked hair, because of the basment scean and clouds flashback. If you take the picture i gave the URL for,and edit it with light and such,you can see a spike or two sticking up.Because Zacks hair spiked BACKwords,you cant see them all

Sorry for that...im better now....Anyways, I fully agree with you. I love Zack,and his contribution to the story.He is my favorite character by far(explain why hes in my name) with Cloud comming up second for odvious resons(...clouds actually in my name too...) I would have truly loved to have seen more of him

The preliminary information on Advent Children suggests that Zack might be mentioned in the film, maybe he'll appear in flashback? We've already seen screenshots of Cloud visiting Zack's gravesite, with the Buster Sword planted in the gound as a mark of honour.

A prequel to FFVII, featuring Zack, Sephiroth, and Elmyra's husband fighting in the Wutai War would be the best ever, but that's little more than a dream I fear.

Ah,i must agree.I would simply love to see a prequel with them...accept,it would be a little hard for Zack to be in it if it was douring the war...if i remember correctly,Zack was to young(cloud,speaking as if he was zack.).

I do truly hope Zack is show in a flashback in Advent Children.That would be wounderful

It's possible they served together in the latter stages of the campaign... Cloud tried to join SOLDIER when he was 14, so it looks like you can get in pretty young, if you're good enough.

When was Cloud exposed to Mako? And why did he end up being so strong if he was only a lowly guard at first?

This was probably in the game, but I only played through it once and that was a few months ago.

This is explained in the hidden cut-scene during the flashback in the Shinra Mansion basement, accessible during disc three or the later stages of disc two. Cloud was exposed to mako energy, and injected with Jenova cells, during the five years that he was held captive by Hojo.

Sephiroth was wounded from Cloud's surprise attack a few mintues earlier. Also, Sephiroth stabbed Cloud holding his sword with one hand, and aiming back over his shoulder without looking. Very poor form. In addition to that, Cloud had other powers motivating him - rage, grief and love for all the people Sephiroth had murdered. People in that kind of situation an become powerful beyond belief, even for a short time. Sephiroth can't comprehend bonds of affection so strong as that, so he was completely caught off guard and overpowered.
