According to BoB, I joined about a month after the forums went on. That's rediculous. According the memberlist, the most accurate date is 1999. There is a 1998, but only one member (which means EoFF only had one member for a year), and a bunch of other crap like 1969 or something. Screw that.

EoFF vB is like 5 years old or something *pets*

Off by about two years. EoFF itself was started in December, 1999, and so is just over 4 years old.

Happy birthday, mb. Have a good one.

I was talking about the VB EoFF. Didn't EoFF start as an EZ board or something stupid?

Yeh, Peegers.

Exactly. So I write!

December 1999 = EzBoard.
Some time later through February 2001 = uBB.
February 27th, 2001 through February 27th, 2004 = vB.

I was there. I remember because when the vB was born, I was Genjuro. :o

Peegee
02-27-2004, 07:02 PM
"EoFF" was actually a ubb? Sweet

Linus
02-27-2004, 07:03 PM
Actually, during January and February 2001, I think it was several uBBs. Because they kept getting RESET.

Yes, it did, in 1999. Your statement that the vB is five years old is still off by two years, Peeg. xP

This vB, as stated in the announcement linked to by Yams, is now three years old. :) EoFF has consisted of 1 ezBoard, 1 UBB and at least two vB's.

Cid Highwind registered at vB's forums on 21st of July, 2000.

I'm not sure, I either registered (the first time, as Astos) when it was still the first vB or the uBB. Probably the first vB.

And then it died. And I had to re-register on the second vB. As Fiend *roar*.

And then I died.

And then I came back to life again.

Happy Birthday, good ol' vB. *nods*

By the way, does anyone remember when the second vB came into existence? *tries to find out* *checks the calendar*

EDIT: March 26th, 2001. It was definitely just the first vB.

I don't really understand the deal with the "first" and "second" vBs though. What's that all about?

I don't recall the details exactly, but first the servers got reset when going from UBB to vB, then I think the hosting got changed so the vB was reset again, and then I think it was reset a third time for a reason I don't recall. All kinds of crazy stuff went on. It was cool.

The Man

Oh, the insanity. At least we're not having hosting trouble anymore, I guess. ;)

Yeah, we didn't bother with classy things like backups back then.

Peegee
02-27-2004, 10:08 PM
Why did you even do backups to begin with? As I understood it, the only things worth keeping are in the archives :)

Hey so I've been here for more than half the time the vb has been here. now in over a year it will be the whole shebang, mwahahaha (slight n00bness.)

The gaming forums are kind of like an FF library, so we tend to keep the threads if we can. Help and Feedback are also pretty useful for reference. But for the most part, the archives and also the staff forums are the main reason we do backups.

On a tangent note from this thread, see the latest announcement by myself. Yeah.

we've obviously been looking at vB3 to see if it's an option we want to look into
So how's it going looking into if it's worth looking into?

Have a good one vB EoFF.

I remember I registered at EoFF x number of months after the last reset and the post counts were still active.

I got 52% in my final year for English. That's a pass, dammit. I'm allowed to be wrong 48% of the time.

Our education standards sort of balance it out though.

Yeah, read the last announcement.

Actually, I probably didn't lose many marks on spelling and crap, more so response to text. I hate comprehension. Blah. And yeah, America actually has higher pass marks because they mark easier. NZ is somewhere inbetween Japan/Germany hardness and USA easiness. Although if you want an A Pass, you have to get over 80% or something. 50% is a C Pass. Actually, 45-55% is, I think. I dunno, I can't remember half the stuff I learned in school. Go figure.
