Need help, screwed up DirectX

Ok I got Final Fantasy XI about 2 months ago, recently I had to recover my computer with the recovery disks, so I re-installed Playonline and Final Fantasy XI, now I have one problem.......

When I try to launch Playonline, I get an error saying I don't have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed, I have re-installed the DirectX 8.1 from the CD about 7 times now and I still get the error.....

help!?

dunno. Try downloading and installing DirectX 9.0b, which is the most recent DX available from www.microsoft.com
