the forums no longer mark a thread read after I read it. The envelope stays pink even after clicking the thread and then clicking on the link back to the specific forum. This is annoying. It was not doing this to me before the last day or two.

Try refreshing. The link might take you back to the stored version of the page.

nope it doesn't work and the threads stay marked as new even when i come back to the page half an hour later.

Works for me. Log out, clear all your cookies, clear your cache, and restart your browser and see if it works then.

well, i hit "mark all forums read" which cleared it and now we'll see if it works.

edit: nope it's still pink. *goes to log out*

If your browser supports it, try a hard refresh (ctrl+F5)... that has a slight chance of helping.

hard refresh still does not work. and I have cookies turned on and auto-login, etc. i upgraded to firefox but i did that two weeks ago and it just now started doing this.

ok, new breakthrough: it only doesn't clear the pink icon if the thread is one page long. for multipage threads, when i click back to the forum, the icon turns yellow (or whatever color it is)

When you come back half an hour later or so to find threads are no longer marked read, you sure no-ones actually posted new posts in it? :D

yes because I am still the most recent poster in some of them. It only clears if I read a thread that is long enough to have a "last page".

I've had the same problem, so it's definitely not just eest.

I think I solved it after I cleared all my temp files and cookies a week ago, though. I'll re-check when I get home. Someone IM DanieLoony (AIM) / Loony_BoB (Y!M) or _ (#eoff) reminding me.

EDIT: Yeah, clearing my cookies and temp files must have fixed it. Either that, or it just happened to solve itself in the short time since I cleared them.

ok it randomly started working again. If I were a recognized member I would close this thread.

Or use charmap to look it up, if you know approximately where in the 0xFFFF sized Unicode character map to look :p

that would clearly require too much effort
