when you make a perfectly good thread and a bunch of people come along and ruin it with meaningless spam and silly talk that isn't even funny. If I had any respect for myself I would just delete the thread completely.

hmm...

Don't you hate when that happens?

Linus
03-06-2004, 02:12 AM
No.

eestlinc
03-06-2004, 02:25 AM
that's because your threads aren't perfectly good like mine.

Leeza

I never start threads, but...yes, I hate it when that happens to other threads.

eestlinc
03-06-2004, 02:38 AM
maybe you should start

Oh yes, I hate that. :( Stupid spam ruins thread. Quality entertainment, doesn't though. It enhances the value of the thread.

eestlinc

you know how you can put certain members on ignore? I think you should be able to block certain people from replying in your threads.

SomethingBig
03-06-2004, 02:59 AM
I've never seen that happen. Got any examples?

Meh, I guess I can tolerate spam to some extent.

What kind of crap is this you speak of, eest?

Meat Puppet

If you blocked certain people from replying in your threads that'd be like, racist. You might as well burn me on a stake. Or ask me to get banned.

Del Murder
03-06-2004, 03:09 AM
Not racist, elitist.

I've never had the problem myself. My threads start out spammy, but eventually end up with a topic. Now that sucks.

Strider

This seems to happen a lot lately in every single newbie thread that comes along. Yeah.

*Rubs chin* What a coincidence. In a forum that I mod in, we recently had a boom of newbies, and with it, a boom of spam and nonsensical things. What is it with noobs and spamming?

Meat Puppet
03-06-2004, 03:15 AM
It's very, very fun. Not so fun when you're banned, but fun while it lasts. Why? Um,..

eestlinc
03-06-2004, 03:33 AM
in order for spam to be fun it actually has to be funny to someone besides yourself.

Del Murder
03-06-2004, 03:37 AM
Yeah, like all the people on this board who speak German. :p

Meat Puppet
03-06-2004, 03:41 AM
Does it count if both your personalities find it funny.

eestlinc
03-06-2004, 04:01 AM
those who speak german would be able to enjoy it except all the mess that gets in the way.

Logan
03-06-2004, 04:09 AM
I don't make threads (often), so I don't have this problem at all, har.

Ultimate_Sandwich
03-06-2004, 04:12 AM
Heh, Germans... Oh well, time for some ironic meaningless spam:

THIS MESSAGE GOES OUT TO ALL ADMINS:
What does it take to get a custom title around here? I was rather fond of the "sandwich lord" subtitle I'd earned and, I uh, kinda want it back. Sorry, I just didn't know where to ask. And where better than a thread about disrupting topic changes?

Oh, and my damn sig won't show up. wutthaddeelwitdat?

Anyway... Lat0rs

*Dylan

*edit* Ok, I see the sig. Great. Go home.

eestlinc
03-06-2004, 04:13 AM
omg

*cut the bread in half*

they might give you a custom title since you aren't really a newbie but it normally takes 8 months.

Ultimate_Sandwich
03-06-2004, 04:17 AM
I know that, dude. I spent the 8 months here the first time to get it. I must now try to retrieve it. I'll need two hobbits and a horse; help a brother out?

Martha Steward is guilty!! (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040306/ap_on_bi_ge/martha_stewart&cid=509&ncid=716)

I can't believe this crap. I wonder what the media is going to cover next. I want a cookie though. What do you guys think about Martha?

There are no good threads, only good threads to close.

eestlinc

this one seems to be a prime candidate now, thanks to PG.

Mr. Graves
03-06-2004, 05:18 AM
Yeah, it bugs me. But, I just post in it and ignore the spaminess of it.

Meat Puppet
03-06-2004, 06:07 AM
I don't mind the spaminess I read it anyway, if you don't like spaminess you can always just not read it, or run away like.

It's worse when people think that their threads are perfectly good when they obviously aren't.

eestlinc
03-06-2004, 08:14 AM
It's not my fault if you are too jaded to enjoy my threads.

Meat Puppet
03-06-2004, 08:37 AM
I thought that one with all the german crap was a good, humourous thread. If I could've understood German I probably would not have, however.

I love SPAM!

Maxico
03-06-2004, 03:47 PM
Usless fact about spam: The word spam originated from a forum where an admin accidentaly posted 200 of the same news post. One member quoted the monty python sketch "spam spam spam spam spam....ect" and the name stuck.

I wonder if this forum could invent a word that is used all over the world (well the internet part of it anyway)

I've never actualy tasted spam

oh uh, yeah, spamming up threads in bad.

Enoki
03-06-2004, 03:49 PM
You've never had spam? spam is great!! whereas SPAM is bad! or something......*confused*
