Finding a good avatar - besides the splendid forum defaults, of course - can be a real challenge sometimes.
Maybe this thread can help those who, like me, are searching for that special something to add a little flair to our profiles.

If you're looking for something obscure, something rare, or maybe a wholly original avatar, just post here and see who responds:)

As for me... I'd be mighty grateful if someone could find me an avatar image of Atticus Finch from the film version of <i>To Kill a Mockingbird.</i>

Eyes on FF avatar size limits:
Maximum of 60 x 60 pixels, up to 5k.

Joel, if I had any idea how to resize an animated image, I'd do it. All the photo editors I have merely show the first frame, though.:(

Something regal and honourable, perhaps. An avatar that's fitting of your screenname and personality. A male version of the scales of justice would be good, or maybe someone in an old-style military officer's uniform... perhaps a mediaeval king?

Check to see if it's a .jpeg file. If it is then remove the <b>e</b> and resave it as .jpg and it should work. That has happened to me a few times.

EoFF's avatar collection is currently being sorted, and many are being deleted because, wow, some are really, really bad.

Many of the avatars were good, but were just of poor quality. I'm asking for anyone who wants to to submit avatars to be added to the collection.

Here's what we're looking for:
1) Avatars must be 60x60 pixels and under 5KB.
2) Avatars should be related to an RPG (especially Final Fantasy), though if you really want to you can submit any avatar and it may or may not be uploaded.
3) Avatars shouldn't be ugly.
4) Please say what game its from. I know I'm a nerd but I don't have all freaking day.
5) You may submit as many or as few avatars/images as you'd like.

A lot of avatars of game sprites and Amano artwork were deleted. Those are cool.

If you have an image that would make a good avatar but are unable to resize the image yourself, feel free to upload the entire image and someone else will resize it.

GIMP is powerful, but it is not easy to use at first. It took me a bit of time to figure out a lot of the main functions and the layer system...and that is barely scratching the surface of the program.

I have a question in regards to my avatar which is obviously a Canadian flag that had to be reduced from 64x64 to the forums default size. In the process the flag no longer is animated. Any suggestions as to what I can do to get the thing to reanimate would be appreciated...

I made one and it looks pretty good...but the size had to be smaller because the actual file size at 60x60 was 6.77KB. So I had to shrink it and now it's 45x45...hope that's okay, if not, I could probably just give you the bases (the icon without any effects) and hope that's okay. It also says ApocalypticLeon in really tiny text.

Edit: And apparently it's so small that it's at full size without even clicking on it...

If someone could make me a sig for Garnet and/or an avatar, I would really appreciate it! I posted this topic before in the wrong section; the art forum, so I am sorry about that. Just looking for someone who could make me a kick-ass sig and avatar for Garnet. It would also be nice if on the sig and avatar, you could write, Garnet Til Alexandros XVII

Sorry, the name wouldn't fit on the icons, but here's the set anyway. I made three different icon versions.

I want this to be my avatar, but my computer NEVER lets me use a custom avatar.:( I need a little help.

It is a bitmap at the moment, if you save it as a jpeg, or a gif, it should be much smaller.

It's harder to do animated avatars. You'd best just find a gif image of Zapdos and ask someone to resize it for you. I can't create animated avatars, I can only resize them. But even then, animated ones are usually above the 5KB limit. I could make you a non-animated one, but that's about it.

Ok, the image was too small to add many things, as it would look cluttered. It has to be saved as a GIF, for a JPEG exceeds the 5k limit.
