Final Fantasy Character Showdown! Winner!

Yay! Those FF6 characters got dropped out! These two match-ups are really tough. Cloud is probably my favorite main character, and Cecil is just plain awesome. There's a lot of stuff I like about Aeris, but the same can be said about Rikku as well. I can't decide, so I'll vote later. :mog:

I'm seriously unable to figure out why anyone would like Rikku, unless they're just horny, in which case that's gross. There is really no argument that can persuade me that she is stronger then Cloud, especially since this is <b>X-2</b> Rikku, a much weaker version.

I don't think people are voting for Rikku because she's strong or weak. Many of them are voting for her because they want to mess around with Cloud and make him lose. You know, just like how almost everyone wanted Strago to lose a few rounds ago.

A lot of people don't like Cloud because he is popular and it isn't cool to like things that are popular. What people don't realize is that doing this is actually what is popular nowadays and so the people who act this way are actually hypocrites and accomplishing nothing.

You had your chance, that match was a tie for most of yesterday and all day today. I waited patiently for someone to come a break it and finally we got another vote for Cloud...which brings me to the results and winner of the 16-bit Division:

Like I said this was a fierce battle! Rikku's thief speed prevented Cloud from using some of his better attacks, but she couldn't be able to find the offense to bring him down. After a long break with no action Cloud finally achieved Limit Break and took her down with a powerful Omnislash. He advances to the Final Four which starts now!

Final Four matchups:

Celes (VI) vs. Cloud (VII)
We will finally see who is the better C in this battle of very strong characters. The former general might be able to stop most of Cloud's magic with Runic, but can she avoid the menacing Omnislash? Both are skilled with swords, as this battle pits Atma Weapon versus Ultima Weapon. Which blade wielder will stand the test and advance to the finals?

Locke (VI) vs. Auron (X)
The thief has another challenge before him in the mighty guardian Auron. Both are great physical attackers, but only one can win. Will it be the speedy Locke or the enduring Auron? Locke better be prepared for Auron's overdrive, but the warrior better not let his guard down before his mighty Masamune is captured.

Well, Celes proved to be no match for the spikey haired mentally ill hero, as he busted his way over her and her runic with unblockable physical attacks and limit breaks, and warded off most her magic with clever use of the 'underrated' Tetra Elemental.

Auron - ||||\|||| 9
In another close battle, Locke was able to dodge most of Aurons slow sword attacks thanks to the Beads relic. He then gave his own offering with four attacks in a row, taking down the old man.

Now for our Final:

Cloud (VII) vs. Locke (VI)
Both have come a long way to get here, but only one can be champion. Can Locke put the final nail in FFVI's dominance with a win here? Or will Cloud rain on his parade? This is a battle of two main male characters, and should be one of epic proportions!

If this goes into nothing but eestlinc voting for Locke multiple times (I think he's voted at least 3-4 times since Locke had 9 votes, now he has 13), can't Locke get DQed and Cloud get declared the winner?

After slashing his way out to an early lead, Cloud thought he could run away with this thing. The two then traded blows until Cloud's underestimation of the talented thief lead to Locke getting in a sneak attack to take the lead! Cloud then pulled out all the stops, and the two fought a brave battle finally capped off by an unlikely Ice3 attack from Cloud, freezing Locke in his place.

All hail the first Final Fantasy Character Showdown Champion, Cloud! Feel free to use this thread to discuss the results, what you liked about the game, and what you didn't like. This was fun and I'll be sure to do it again. I'll check back later with some fun stats.

Cloud froze Locke? That's a... special ending. :D

Aftermath: Locke's pissed off, and he runs to the ship wreck. "Ugh, I can't lose!" he yells and barfs over the deck. Then Cloud arrives. "I saw that," he says. Locke is angry, and the two decide to start a Royal Rumble. All the 64 characters join it, and they knock each other over the ship deck. Finally, only Locke and Cloud are left in the ship. Locke steals Cloud's sword and stabs Cloud with it, but Cloud does the same thing which he did to Sephiroth in Nibelheim 5 years prior to FF7's storyline, and he sends Locke flying to the sea.

In my detailed and meticulous statistical analysis of character vs character combat in FFIV, Rydia was easily the strongest. I haven't done it for other games, though, and I don't particularly feel like it. She was obviously cheated whenever she lost.

Quina is the coolest character, anyway.

I was going to go look for the thread I did my analysis in but it's undoubtedly pruned anyway. It was a "Kain vs Cecil" or "Kain vs Rydia" thread.

Mr. Repo Man (aka eestlinc's stunt double)! Welcome back, we've missed you. Since you know the wrath of Locke, I guess it's only good for you that Cloud won because now you can freely throw wrenches at everyone, and no Locke will come and beat you up for that. :)

About the losers' bracket, who will ran it, and will it be on this thread or another thread? Since this thread is pretty long already, it might be a better idea to make a new thread for it, but who knows.

Oh, and one more thing. On the first round, the 8-Bit Division, there was a battle between Celes and Agrias. I voted for Celes back then, but now that I've played FFT, I'd certainly vote for Agrias. She's pure awesomeness! :love:
