View Full Version : Odd forum habits/quirks

Whenever I type a response to a post, I read it over a couple of times for spelling and grammar errors and hit submit. I don't know why, but it never fails that I miss a few spelling and/or grammar errors when I look it over again after it's been posted and have to edit it to clean it up.

Do you have any odd habits or quirks when you're posting here (or online in general) that make you chuckle at yourself?

It's actually "Submit Reply", so obviously you didn't check your post for perfectness well enough. Stupid.

I dunno. I see the blue icon beside a forum name on the index, and don't realize that it was MY post that was the last one, and end up reading my own post again. But that's not that weird...that's just me being stupid.

I went through a period where all my posts were just smileys, and it amused me greatly.

I usually try to be somewhat witty even if it doesn't add to the topic. Example, if I felt like it I could've just replied with an :D in this post in response to Del's post. I didn't because it would be predictable and dull by this point.

:D

I insist on making the 'talking' smilie. This has drastically insane consequences, as I have often found really old (several month old) posts where the icon is either the default grey box or *gasp* the one next to it ( :( ) !!!!!!!

I then flip out and remedy the error, while cursing you all for not PMing me about it.

My urge to say *hug*, *snuggle*, "hehe" or "plushie" are my worst forum habits. =P

I post mostly generic and boring replies to most topics.-

I copy my entire post to my clipboard before I submit just in case I timed out while typing it.

I tend to post, and post replies. Often I'll add a smilie, other times I won't. Depends. Really.

No, but in IM's I use the :D face a lot.

I use smilies a lot :p I also always look in the help and feedback forums first before anywhere else, unless it's a warned post so I have a direct link to where I'm meant to be going :p

Recently, I find myself posting in Evoc's "What are you listening to" thread in the lounge all the time.

I always write a happy face at the end of my posts. BECAUSE I'M ALWAYS HAPPY! n_____n

I have a tendency to forget the period at the end of a sentence, if it's a one-sentence post or paragraph

That, and I sometimes substitute a smiley for punctuation :p

I've been meaning to tell a lot of people not to do that. :D

I never use smilies. Maybe 1 in 50 posts? I don't know. That's another quirk I guess. Also, I type in very short sentences. I used to be good with grammar but those days are long behind me.

I occasionally make wiseass comments.

Oh yeah, I forgot about smartass comments. I make LOTS of those. Both online and in real life. Hey, maybe that's why no one can stand me...or maybe it's my putrid body odor...

I always notice spelling errors as soon as I submit my reply.

My odd form habit is going through stages of never posting, just reading everything, then I assume everybody still knows who I am (or that they knew who I was in the first place. :p ).

Also, I copy my entire post to my clipboard before I submit just in case I timed out while typing it.

I guess I use smilies a fair bit, though moreso in chat. ;p

Yep, that's what I do. Read more than I post, copy everything semi-important before submitting, and I use a lot of smilies, except I never go to chat. :)

I somehow picked up meh from here, I use it occassionally. I also use the XD smilie with people who don't understand it at all.

whenever I talk about stuff I can relate it to the Simpsons or some of the final fantasy games I have played. 1 other thing is when I'm walking I like to stick my hands in my pockets.:whoa: Does anyone else put their hands in their pockets when they walk? I mean sometimes I just don't have anything to do with them and I feel weird swinging my hands around.

Plus, when I found out how to quote that is all I did for posts I did for a while. I always make short sentences. And my posts never are very long.

I make predictable, short replies, use way too many smilies, and check my spelling obsessively!

...That's not quirky. ;_;

I take stuff too seriously sometimes, sometimes against my better judgement. My emotions like to take over just too darned much, I tell ya.

I tend to leaves out words in sentences when I'm typing in a rushed manner. Usually it comes out in forum posts, but mostly when chatting.

Many times I end up writing a novel when I reply to something. I don't mean to, it just happens, I'm way to detailed. Many of my posts probably don't get read very much because of that.
