Talkin' to Jebus in the chat room earlier inspired this thread.

A lot of artists have rehashed old songs with a bit of new flair. Sometimes it's good, and other times it's not. American Woman, Behind Blue Eyes, Smooth Criminal. . . the list goes on.

What do you consider some of the best song remakes ever? Alternatively, what do you think are some of the worst remakes?

the chili peppers had a really nice funk version of Jimi Hendrix's Fire, it actually does justice to a great song

Metallica-Turn the page...(Bob Segar)Sp?

Bob segar's version is better IMO but Kirk added one of the best solos ive ever heard....Amazing!

Breadfan is a good one too!

Any Ska cover just doesnt sound right to me so I say all of those are the worse.

A good one is:

Whitney Houston - I will always love you. That's originally done by Dolly Parton.

I thought Cake's remake of I will Survive was pretty good.

The Living End did a pretty good remake of Softcell's "Tainted Love" a few years back. It was pretty good, with a healthy dose of rock and roll. :D

Not only the best remake, but the best remake of the best 80s song....

All - Rebel Yell, originally done by the master.. Billy Idol of course.
