Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Chingy.

<img src="http://www.dustygroove.com/images/products/c/chingy~~~~~_jackpot~~_101b.jpg">

This person is a humiliation to mankind. He mutilated the english language, and now all the kids who listen to his crap are talking like sporks, with <i>thurr</i> stupid sporks. Oh, but it be cool. I don't <i>curr</i> about what people say <i>hurr</i> and <i>thurr</i>. <i>Err</i>body is doing it, and it's getting to the point that it's so stupid. Chingy, <i>yurr</i> still young, and <i>yurr</i> rapping about getting tipsy in clubs, hitting girls at the <i>holidae in</i>, and crap. <i>Wurr</i>'s <i>yurr</i> sense of dignity? You've ruined rap. I hate you and <i>yurr</i> stupid crap. Do everyone a service and stop talking like you have a slurring problem, and speak normal for a ****ing change.

there's an article in the latest New Yorker about Chingy and his producers. By the way, I think we should blame <a href=http://www.livejournal.com/users/leeza>Leeza</a> for this.

80's and early 90's rap is the way to go.

Screw the new-age rap.

I must say I 100% agree with you. Chingy is the downfall of rap. He represents what rap has become and how truely stupid it has gotten.

I'm pretty sure it's J-Kwon or something like that that has e'rybody in tha club getting tipsy. Either way, they both suck and the commercial side of rap has just gotten rediculously out of hand. Listen to Talib Kweli or Kanye West or something else that's good.

Oldominion, Swollen Members, and Andre are the reasons you should start listening to rap again. There's a lot of good underground stuff that's not yet tainted by mainstream.

Agent Proto
03-31-2004, 04:47 AM
Yeah, I think I should look into underground music. Most of the new stuff coming out on the radio is mostly trash, except a few that I do enjoy.

Kirobaito
03-31-2004, 04:54 AM
Thank you, Proto. I truly thank you. This is what I have been proclaiming for a good while. Except it's not Chingy that ruined rap, it's rap that ruined music.

actually, the rot started with Beethoven.

Ah, yes. L-Von, as he's better known by in the European classical rapper world. Along with Moze-dawg, and Freddie C.

I think Chingy's entertaining. :D He's got his own style and taken at face value his music is something entertaining for the three minutes it takes to watch a video.

The beat to Right Thurr is nice. The track it self is pretty lousy. But all in all, it definitely hasn't stopped me from listening to rap.

I don't like rap, but I've only ever heard all that mainstream crap. Yeah, they are ALL crap. I won't say anything about any underground rap as I haven't heard it.

Also... well... Nelly was pretty awful, too. I HATE NELLY.

The only forum of rap that was good was late 80's rap like Peter said. I would not be surprised if a rap artist named "Lord Shnieezemopeezy Bling" came into the spotlight. At least 80's rap had valid lyrics and used words you can find in the dictionary. Ya know what, this reminds me of my roots when I was a Sir Mixalot fan when I was about 12 years old.

Flying Mullet
03-31-2004, 02:39 PM
I also liked 80's rap more than the current rap. Plus a lot of groups used the music to get a message accross (like Public Enemy), rather than trying to brag about girls, cars and other junk that they didn't get in real life so they pretend they get it now.

I still love most any underground rap. The only famous rappers I still enjoy, are Ludacris, OLD snoop, Pac, Biggie, D12--Obie Trice, and eminem are good on their own too, Twista, and Xibit. the rest can rot, especially 50 cent, Ja Rule, Chingy, Nelly, and all the other fakes. They make kids think its about drugs and parties, and stupid catch phrases.

Mr. Graves
03-31-2004, 09:15 PM
Ice-T and Ice Cube were both 80s rap artists who rapped with slang/ebonics and performed songs with the theme being the killing of other people. Not much difference with the rap of today, except maybe some of the music sounding more advanced now as opposed to then.

She'd be a rap natural. Maybe that's what she's been doing since her last post 'cause it's been a while. :)

I don't know who Chingy is because I really try to stay away from Rap. It makes my head hurt. However, I do like Eminem and bands like Linkin' Park, who are semi-rap...at least they mostly keep their clothes on in their videos, which seems to be a prerequisite for other rappers.

rap has gotten sooo commercial these days.....such a shame....use to be so meaningful.......such a shame.......chingy is horrible and people immitate it at school.....so horrible....so what do i do? make fun of it really!

There has never, ever been a stupider name than "Chingy".

Except maybe "Snoop Doggy Dogg", which you've got to admit is pretty darn demented.

"P-Diddy"?

Although it's debatable if he's even rap anymore.

Argh. >.< Chingy's music has been played quite heavily on the radio over here. He gets very annoying, very fast. Just like Nelly. =P Thurrrr. *shudders*

The thing that bothers me most about Rap music is the music videos.

I'm far from being a feminist, but seeing a couple of guys with their bling bling and low riding trousers and lower riding cars using terrible language and being constantly surrounded by ridiculously-thin-bikini-clad-in-the-middle-of-winter lackeys doesn't strike me as particularly appealing nor suitable for mainstream childrens telly. Meh.

Hence why I dislike a lot about today's culture...

Some rappers use their music as a powerful social commentary, making strong points about important issues affecting their families and culture. Unfortunately, the ones who get commercialised and rammed down people's throats all over the world are usually vacuous, profane and lacking any real message except for promoting drug use, violence and gender inequality.
The best stuff is usually underground, non-mainstream.

My basis for liking a brand of music, aside from whether it is good, is this:

Are the girls who listen to such music "hot" (subjective term)? Rap chixor are not hot. They have never been hot. So I hate rap with a passion.

Give me rock/punk/techno/rave girls any day *swoon*

Che Fu and King Kapisi are two 'rappers', to use the term broadly, from New Zealand. They've got a distinctive 'Pasific' tone, and their songs are about everything to undying loyalty between friends, to honouring and returning to your traditional family home. No voilent imagery, no profanity. No harsh chords or shouted lyrics. Very upbeat, toe-tapping stuff.

Guess they'll just have to continue to struggle in vain.

I was all set for Dr. Dre to completely change the face of rap music for the third time with Detox but now he says hes not releasing it!!!! That is a blow for rap music. Dr. Dre is the biggest legend in the history of rap.

I hate modern (c)rap with a passion. The only good rap is when they talk about stuff that matters rather than (a) how much money they have (aka bling-bling), (b) how they want to do 20 girls in one night (STDs anyone?), (c) talking like they have a speech impediment, (d) condoning violence and drug use, or (e) all of the above.

And the videos...what the **** is with the videos? They all look the same! Two or three guys with pants falling off, lowriding cars, maybe a hot tub or two, and the guys constantly surrounded by at least a dozen bikini-clad chicks hanging all over them. Enough said. Know w'uh sayin yo?

Metal for me please!

Peegee
04-17-2004, 06:16 AM
I've heard the argument that rock music is better than rap music because in rock music it talks about real life stuff like breaking up with your girl or something, while rap music is just some song about bling bling and how you're living the "new rich" life instead of growing up in some ghetto somewhere. Then there's the rap songs that condone murder (apparently...I don't recall hearing much of that in my rap days), which rock music doesn't do (or does it?)

I like rock because it's sort of like music (classical music enthusiasts will say otherwise). Rap people like rap it because they are trapped lusting after pop culture. And I don't even want to get into the various other denominations. Just like what you like and be done with it. Sheesh.

Man, I wonder if you know how right you are. Rap is so bad out these days. 50 Cent and his stupid little gang are horrible. Kanye West used to be good but repeats the word but in a different sense in his new raps and that stupid eh-eh-eh <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"> in his song with pharell is g-eh-eh-eh-tting really annoying. Yung Joc can't spell and can't rap for his life. Bubba Sparxx contines the south's failure to rap anything else but about ass. Lil John isn't even a rapper. Yin Yang Twins are another example along with bubba. Rap is just taking a horrible turning point. How do these people at BET handle this crap? And some rappers are selfish. Ice Cube had his own Top 25 Countdown on BET and put his new song as #1 and his song with Lil' Jon above Tupac's classic California Love. Only good rapper that started out some time these days is Chamillionare. Everything else is bull<img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">.
