View Full Version : A great tragedy.....

I've been replaying FF7 and I just recently came across the part that's emotionally the most difficult for me.... I know it's inevitable as part of the game's story and that there's no secret ressurection trick to use, but every time I play, this part just gets to me... I keep asking "why did such a wonderful, beautiful character so full of life and love have to die?" This time I hit that part during a very emotionally difficult time in my life.... My job is going down the drain you see, so this time the stress hit me extra hard so I just had to share my feelings with this audience who will surely understand my pain.

My beloved Heidegger, I will always miss you... :crying2:

Wow, it's um...just a game. I cried, but that's because it was unexpected for me. Of course, I still cry when I watch the episode where Dinobot dies in Beast Wars, so I guess I can't say anything about expectedness.

I think it is the music more than anything that gets to people in that scene. Without that music I don't think the scene would have had the same effect.

Aeris's theme in my opinion is the best musical theme ever created for a video game. And her character type was perfect for that music to fit into.

Actually, I thought it was a shame that Rufus had to die. He was one of the most badass bosses in the game.

We never actually SEE Heidegger die, so it's possible that he survived the Proud Clod's disintegration.
Never fear, he might return in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

*SPOILERS!*

I didn't care about Heidegger's death so much, but I felt sorry for Rufus when he died.

Big D: Heh. Heidegger in a bikini, lying on the beach of Costa del Sol. xD But I hope FF7 AC won't be a big desperation attempt from Square to cash off with a sequel where everyone is resurrected.

I have managed to become quite obsessed with Code of Hero. I have the script memorized, and such, and I was practically bawling by the time I was done with it. Same thing with Heidegger's death.

I, like Sephiroth1999AD, cared more about Rufus than I did about Heidegger. Though without him, we couldn't have Cait Sith's "Gwahahahahaha and Kyahahahahahaha are up to something" line again.

Now i can't see how any of you people liked Rufus, Heidegger, or even Palmer. As already said, when Palmer got mowed by the truck i was busting up laughing, until I heard the news he was still alive! grrr. How could Heidegger have survived? When the Proud Clod blew up, Scarlet and Heidegger were killed. Then, the Gold Saucer workers discovered the Proud Clod, and after scraping off all the remains of Heidegger, decided to put it in the Battle Arena.

As for the one that was operating the Proud Clod, it was probably Aeris.

Trust me, I've looked, there isn't. And anyway, he survived, so it's not like you'd need one. It'd be like having a Cloud ressurection code or a Red XIII ressurection code. What's the point?
Because you use that code to ressurect them all but only after you use the secret reversed fate code, which reverses the effect and kills everyone else and brings back Aeris, then theres a ressurection code for each individual character that you MUST use to bring them all back and then continue the game as usual with Aeris. :D
