I played the violin from 5th grade to 8th grade, and I can still play a few songs I've memorized. (I can't read notes anymore, though.)
I can play two songs on the piano, but I just memorized those, and I have no idea what notes I'm playing.

I don't have any musical talent whatsoever. I can't even sing decent enough. I enjoy music, a lot, and I sometimes wish I could play an instrument. Ah well, I guess I'll leave the music up to the pros. :)

I can play the drums to a degree, because a have a drumset in my house, but I've never had lessons or anything. I've played the clarinet for two years and the violin for one, but I suck at them as well. I sing, but I've only had one year of lessons. I prefer to hear other people playing music. :)

Why are only string instruments choices?

I play the piano most, but I play French Horn in band, but I don't like it. I like the piano, though. I can play the acoustic guitar, but I'm not that good. I can also play the recorder, or used to. Since I play French Horn, I can play a pretty mean Trumpet.

Whoooo! This is my type of thread! (being that I'm a music major!)
I see many on this thread have played the clarinet. Yay! Misery sticks rock!
Hmm, let's see..... I play the clarinet, flute, saxophone, piano, and I sing (yes, that is an instrument!) and I used to play the cello. I'm learning how to play the oboe for our praticum band. (and I sound like a duck!)
Plus, as a music education major, I'll have to learn all the instruments, both string and band. Fun stuff! :)

Take care all.

Where is the piano and guitar? Those must be the most popular choices. I myself play the piano.

I played the alto saxaphone in high school but my parents sold it a couple months ago. That thing didn't work anyway.

I've tried my hands at drums before, and I liked it, so I want to learn how to play them.

But to answer your question, I'm not playing an instrument yet.

I used to play the piano. If I could pick an instrument to be able to play well, it'd be the pan pipes, of course.

I play the violin, I've been playing it for 7 years, although I'm really not good as I think I've done about 3 days practice in those 7 years.

I've been playing the guitar for 2 years now I think and I really like it. I think I'm already better at it than violin as I have been playing pieces at a grade 6 standard whereas I'm only Grade 4 on violin. Could be where the practicing comes in.

I play the piano but I use both the terms 'play' and 'piano' loosely becuase I can only play FF songs and the piano is old and out of tune and sometimes a keyboard. Actually make the term 'the' loose as well.

Got started on the recorder when I was very young, got good quite fast, then moved onto the clarient in the mid 90s. Been playing it ever since. Study prevents me from practicing often, though, and since I'm not in a band or orchestra, and no-one ever hears me play, it's kind of hard to find the motivation to keep playing through all the exercises and music.

WHERE IS THE ELECTRIC GUITAR. MANY PEOPLE PLAY IT CAUSE IT'S COOL AND EVERYTHING.SJEESJ

Rostum

People who play 'electric' guitar because it has a cool image are loosers, you play an instrument to express emotion through music. I'm going to start keyboard soon, and compose more Nobou Uematsu style with my guitar too. Something a bit different then what I've currently been playing. (Tea Party, John Butler, Live, Jeff Buckley, Carus)

I've played percussion ever since the 5th grade. My first choice was to play saxaphone, but hitting things with sticks turned out to be much more enjoyable to me. :P

I'm strictly battery though. No mallets for me. I played snare for my freshmen year in my old high school's marching band, and now I play the quads for my new high school. I've had nothing but fun with them. I'll play whatever(cept mallets :p) in Concert band. Crash cymbals, bass drum, snare, timpanis, whatever.

Mmhm.
