HELP with FFIV

Hey if ANYONE could help it'd be great!

PLaying FFIV and am fighting the Dark Elf. He defeats my whole team with 9999 attacks. Now the walkthru says that Edward comes to the rescue. But the game just says says that I got killed and restarts...

I made this mistake on my first time through as well. Before you go into that cave, you need to talk to Edward in Toroia, and he'll give you an Echoer harp that will play what he plays on his. Then he'll be able to save you when the time comes.
