>>> Wow, that sprite-comic is neat, you made it??

Yeah. Me and about two other guys. And then there's the other guy who designed the webpage...

It's not technically a sprite comic, since the sprites are mostly origonal, as are the backrounds and props. But yeah. They're origonal sprites, so i guess its still a sprite comic. 'pixel-art' just doesn't have the same 'umph' that 'sprite comic' does...

If your comic is not directly based on a video game, there is no excuse for making it sprite-based. It's ugly and makes you seem too lazy to actually draw anything.

>>> Maybe he cant draw, if thats the case a drawn comic would be uglier than a sprite-based one..

Superosity (http://www.superosity.com) is an incredibly poorly-drawn comic, but it's still one of the better ones around. What matters the most in the end is the quality of the humor, so there's no reason to throw the art out the window by using sprites.

Seriously. Shut up. It's done for the style, becuase they look like video game charecters. And just for the record, I draw pretty well actually. And I'm pretty tired of the sprite vs hand drawn debate. It doesn't matter in the slightest, and obviously the majority of reponse has been positive.

And since the sprites are orginal, they ARE Art.

Heh. Don't take it too personally. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yes? But yea, you were kind of harsh there, Ryukishi. It's his comic and if he wants to make sprite art, that's fine. I think it looks cute and it's impressive he made em' on his own. But anyway, some of them were pretty funny. Keep em coming.

Heh. Don't take it too personally. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yes?

Actually, that was my point... Sorry if that was missed... (God, I'm going to choke on all that sarcasm some day...)

There really is no reason to have the "OMG hand-drawn is btter' no Sprittzes is bettrr" debate garbage. They are art different styles. i mean, just look at Squidi (http://www.squidi.net), and to a lesser extent,8-bit theatre (http://www.nuklearpower.com). And for the finest bit of pixelated work I've yet to see matched in both quality and underratedness, Kid Radd (http://www.kidradd.com)

hand drawn takes a lot of skill, but if your sense of humor = teh suxorz, then your comic will be a failure regardless. Spriting and pixel art take skill too, except that is requires less cordination, and more creativeness. Argue that if you want, But its pointless too, as I am not saying that one is better than the other. I'm merely pointing out that they are different styles worthy of equal recognition. There are lots of awsome hand drawns out there, ones I read daily.

You wanna talk crap comics though, hand drawn and pixel art alike have a lot of them.

Anyway, thats all besides the point. Visit the shiny webcomic (http://www.highschoolstarship.com) now

Is Nique suposed to be Squall?

Um, Yes and no. 'Yes' becuase Squall is an awsome charecter , but no, becuase that wasn't the intent. My hair is thick and dark brown, and I ALWAYS wore a leather jacket to school. So I sortofkindof look like Squall, (but don't ask me for pictures, all you fangirls out there, becuase I've been down this road before....)

But you'll note that 'Nique' acts almost nothing like Squall, so thats another negatory on the 'Squall' thingy.

Well done, sprites or not.

To add to the debate, I do hand-drawn all the time (and I consider myself reasonably good at it) but my Webcomic is a sprite comic because I want it to be a sprite comic. It's become a sort of art form, see? Saying that doing a sprite comic is lazy and sucks if you might as well do it by hand is the same thing as saying that Picasso was lazy and sucked because he didn't draw people lifelike. My comic is a gaming-based comic with a flow and humour that perfectly suits sprites and a single camera view, which is why I do it with sprites and single camera view. It would take me about the same effort and time to do it by hand, but it wouldn't fit.

HAH! ;)

Thank you, but let's get off the spriteing debate. Any critisisms? (other than 'OMG sprites suxorz my cluckzorz') or comments on the site itself?

Oh, and marble, on the Jack-of-all-trades... I'm likeing the concept, but let's spend a bit more time polishing up the comics... and those transparently yellow outliny guys... try to clean them up a bit too... I mean, you could make it be just ANOTHER sprite comic, but why not shoot for something bigger and better? *Assuming the webcomic is yours*

Also, we have an update, so check it out. Best one yet, I swear! (http://www.highschoolstarship.com/comic/comic006.html)

Nique: Thanks, but no. I do my best and nothing more. The Designers look grainy because I have to compress the comics a bit for uploading, as well as converting them to JPEG. And frankly, my webcomic isn't really less original than yours. I have plans for it, yes... it'll be what I make of it. Try to come with more precise critizism, if you have it.
