We all now that every once in a while, a game comes around with an awesome name.

What games do you think of and just say "Damn, that's a cool name!"

I had to think this over the other day, and I came up with my five favorite game names of all time.

5. A Bard's Tale - This is my favorite NES game name. It sounds so mystical and enchanted. Perfect for an RPG. I just wish I could say the same about the game itself.

4. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance - What's better than an oxymoron in a game name? An oxymoron with cool sounding words in the game name.

3. Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - Coolest Castlevania game name ever. I just love this title.

2. Ephemeral Fantasia- Although the game sucked, I've got to say this is one of the greatest game names I've ever seen. The word Fantasia is a bit of a play on words, because the main character's weapon is a talking guitar.

1. The 7th Saga - I love this name more than any other game name I've ever heard. It's difficult for me to explain why I chose this as my favorite game name of all time. The game centers around collecting 7 runes to become a god. What is very strange is that the title seems to only focus around the 7th rune stone. Why did they choose to call it the 7th Saga when there is really only one adventure, with no prequels? Whatever the reason, it works in delivering an excellent name.

What are some of your favorite game names?

Syphon Filter is a wonderfully deceptive name. It sounds like a piece of machinery used to clean your swimming pool, when it's actually a horrendously dangerous biological weapon.

I got kinda scared when Viewtiful Joe had just been announced and there was talk that its name might be changed by the time it was released.

Also: Red Dead Revolver.

Perfect Dark.

It makes it sound like it's some sort of horror game.

I think it was called "Plumbers Don't Wear Pants" or something. It was one of the only AO games made.

I think it was called "Plumbers Don't Wear Pants" or something. It was one of the only AO games made.

That was called "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties". I haven't played it, but I heard it was like soft core pornography.

I like "Ninja Gaiden" (anything with ninjas is just dang cool), "Call of Duty" (sounds all patriotic), "Thief: The Dark Project" (sounds as creepy as the game becomes), and many more. If I think of anything else I'll post it.

"Kingdom Hearts". I thought it was a cool name before I even played the game. Crystal Chronicles is a nice name too, alliteration is always good.

Ohhhh I forgot about Tuff E Nuff.

I haven't played that game in years.

The cover is pretty awful though. It has Jade screaming at the player saying "Hey punk, are you TUFF E NUFF?"

Only four playable characters, and an enemy fight against a character named Beans. And you also get to fight a ninja who does this sword attack where he says something like "It's Sunkist"

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Get it? This game is "a link to the past" (Zelda III comes chronologically before Zelda I and II) It's also telling you that this "Link" (the main character) is not the same Link from ZI and ZII, but one from the past (before ZI and ZII).

Castlevania: Nocturne in the Moonlight
This is what the Japanese version of "Symphony of the Night" translates to. A nocturne sounds (and is supposed to be) a lot more haunting than a symphony. Also you could think of a nocturne as a nocturnal creature, which brings you to Alucard - a vampire.

I will try to think of more later.

Guilty Gear. I knew the game ruled before I played it just from the cool title.
