Hi,
I can't seem to play FF8 on my Pentium 4. The game shuts down during the first scene which Squall fights with Seifer in Disc 1.
What should i do?

You're computer is obviously trying to tell you something - don't play FF8 :p

In all seriousness, you probably need to get one of them nifty patches for WinXP (I'm assuming you're using XP). You can get that patch somewhere around here (www.eyesonff.com/ff8).

On the EXE file,(the icon you click on when you open the game) right click on it and click PROPERTIES, click on COMPATIBILITY and select to play in windows 95, 98, 2000...etc. Try each on of them and see if it works.

After the FMV the game goes graphical and starts to use the 3D accelerator card. What kind of video card do you got? If it is crashing right after the FMV then it is a vid card issue, video card drivers, or directX. It has been my experience that it works great with the older 3dfx cards like a Voodoo3 or a Voodoo5 using Glide or Direct3D.
