This is probably nothing big but it sparks my concern. I had a 2nd Hard disk plugged into my system for more space. Well I never even done any partitioning and my uncle formatted it before he gave it to me so I can use it. After I connected it and turned it on I see this 3rd mysterious volume. How did this get here?

What's that camcorder thing? Maybe it's a memory card on there or something. Giving a screenshot of the drive manager in Computer Management should explain what's going on (except on my PC - I think I have too many HDs and CD drives so the last one doesn't show up for me).

The Camcorder is my digital camera in the USB port.

Well there you go, you can clearly see the 2nd disk has 2 volumes on it, hence why it gets 2 letters assigned by default :p Nothing wrong with a disk having more than 1 volume on it - my drives have 2, 2, 4 and 7 partitions each :p

Thank the good Heavens for partitioning.

I don't know what I'd do without it.

If for some bizarre reason you don't want 2 volumes, back up everything off those drives, then delete the partitions using the computer management program. Then create a drive using the entire space.

Wouldn't partitioning clear itself after a disk has been formatted?

You don't format disks, you only ever format partitions on a disk :p Common misconception, plus it's easier to say format your disk :p
