I drink.. in fact I will be out drinking again tonight, but at 24 I no longer go out to get drunk, I just go out to have a dance, and have a few drinks.

I started at age 16ish..

I first started drinking when I was about 14 or 15. I had tried alcohol before that, though.

I don't drink anymore.

I have low resistance to alcohol and every day the doctor says more apples and less alcohol haha funny joke, but if I don't drink alcohol I have the feeling no one would like me anymore because. I'm a teenager and those are supposed to drink alcohol.

I never used to drink. I drank for the first time the day I got out of high school, didn't really drink over the summer... then I got to college. Now I am a drunken fool. This is the first weekend I haven't drank in a long long time. We drink pretty much every weekend up here, and occasionally during the week for special occasions.

I drank a teeny bit starting at about sixteen. Never got beyond slightly tipsy until I came to university. Had a few rough nights since being here, but I enjoy drinking the best when I just go down to the pub and have a couple of pints and chat with friends. I may over-indulge occaisionally, but I never purposefull 'binge'.

I started drinking occasionally when I was 15, regularly when I was 17, hardly at all when I was 18, often when I was 20, and occasionally now that I'm 21.

I first consumed alcohol when I was maybe, ten years of age. I drink a few times a year. I've never been drunk.

I've been drinking all my life. I started out with milk. If I don't have something to drink just about every day, I end up feeling an incredibly unbearable feeling of thirst. I realize I have a problem.

I started when I was 20, just a drink on a random day. I don't drink much, just at parties. Lucky for my I only go to a few parties.

This all raises a very important question:

Do people drink because they enjoy the taste of alcohol, or do they drink just to get drunk?

Storm

I used to be one of those anti-drinking people who hated anybody who did drink. I vowed to myself that I would never drink or do any drugs in my lifetime, as this would destroy my life.

I never drank anything until I was 18 years old. I had a terrible graduation/prom experience, and decided at the after grad to give it a shot. I didn't drink at all from then until I was 20 years old, where I occasionally had some shots with my friends. Now I am 22, and I typically have a beer and some shots at a party, almost always in moderation. As many of you will soon find out, it's almost impossible to be entertained at university/college parties unless you are at least slightly intoxicated with the rest of the people. Sober and non-sober people just cannot connect.

I had a terrible graduation/prom experience.

I misread that as: 'I had a terrible graduation/porn experience'.

Have you actually tasted beer? I suspect donkey urine is similar in taste.

I have tasted it, yes.

The only way I can describe it would be to say that it's like throwing up in your mouth.

I started at 18 and stopped at 19. I don't know why I started at all; it's not something I'd ever consider now. I think it takes the courage to refuse that I didn't have back then.

i started drinking when i was 16, 2 years before i was legal to. but ur right some beer does taste crap (Bud for example) but in the UK theres a wider variety of beers and some of them are actually quite nice.

oh just coz i said i started drinking at 16 it doesnt mean iv been having one every day from then, some people are making this sound like alcohlics anonamous. i only drink if im in the pub (duh) which isnt really that often, or if im at a party sometimes. and i hardly ever get drunk.

I started when I was 16, but I never drank beer when I was at that age :p Just mixed drinks. I didn't drink that often then. Now I mainly drink beer, but I'm not picky :p I'd rather not have cognac though :mad2: Anyway, I don't drink that often, just at parties and such.

I am 15 and I rarely get the chance to drink.

Mid-February, 2003: my father (dirty-rotten-scumbag-S.O.B.) gave me some St. Jude's Strawberry Wine w/ White Zinfandel. I memorized the name so that I can buy it when I get older b/c it is the best liquid I've ever tasted.

March 27, 2004: 45 min. to curtain. The Crucible was about to be performed by the Atherton High School Drama Club. Someone's uncle brought her two Coca-Cola's from McDonald's... heavily spiked w/ Jack Daniel's and Capt. Morgan Gold. That was very tart and I don't plan on drinking it again. >.<

Once when I was 15/16.

I haven't drank an alcoholic beverage since. :] Though if the occasion arises, I wouldn't mind to again, as long as I'm with the right people. ^^

I started drinking just to get drunk... that's really the only reason you would take shots of vodka, I think. Anyway, now I actually enjoy the taste of beer and like to be sitting at my computer, sipping on a beer or whatever. Good times.

I drank once when I was 20, and actually started drinking when I was 21 like a good boy. To drink because it tastes good or to get drunk....you can have both of these. The secret to this is not drinking beer. Everyone I have ever talked to said that they like beer because they got used to it. And there is just too much liquor in the world for me to waste my time getting used to beer when I am perfectly happy with a margarita.

Ouch!

The most I've ever had was a glass of an after dinner wine while I was in the limo going off to my friend's wedding reception. I've also had little tastings of beer and various wines my parents by throughout my life.

Honestly, I think the stuff is horrible, especially beer. Champagnes and various wines are so-so. I don't think I could ever really drink the stuff on a regular basis.

Beer is not yummy. Some may be good, depending on the drink. Beer alone isn't that great tasting. However, mixed with some flavors, or whatever, it can be good.

Anyway, I haven't had a drink since my birthday, when I had an alcoholic drink at Red Lobster xD

This all raises a very important question:

Do people drink because they enjoy the taste of alcohol, or do they drink just to get drunk?

Both, but mostly just to get drunk of course, but few years ago I couldn't stand the taste of alcohol so I drank just to get drunk. Nowadays I enjoy some various drinks and beers and we often go to drink one or two beer/s or something.

As for me, I got drunk first time when I was 11 years old. Since then I got drunk few times per year 'till High-School. During high school, I drank about once/month per average.

After high-school, of I went to army. Strangely, I didn't drink at all during my service. I just wanted to be at home and rest during my holidays from there.

Then I went to study, and I started drinking more and more. Lately I've been drinking at least once per week, just because it's so fun. I could call it a...hobby! *n.n* One of my favourite hobbies anyway. :) :) :smash:

Beer, you make me complete.

During the course of my younger years I stole a sip here or a sip there, but the first time I got drunk was a few weeks after I turned 16. I don't think anyone starts drinking liquor with its taste in mind, but some people are handed beer as a refreshment and take it from there. I guess it's all about how you're introduced to drinking.

You may end up living a healthier life if you drink a few cups of wine now and again. And even if you do end up drinking too much, if you enjoy it the way I do, it's worth it. I'd gladly sacrifice living to be 85 if I can enjoy my prime years as much as I can.

My mom was a great believer in the idea that if you control someone's ability to drink whilst they cannot legally go in a pub and get smashed they wont do so immediately and end up having their stomach pumped for alcohol poisoning, so I got allowed to drink from the age of three or four a weak shandy or diluted wine and as I got older it became a single glass of wine when my mom had one or a single glass of beer. That was not a regular thing but having got to age thirteen and looking around age seventeen my older brother got a load of alcohol in and then basically got me so drunk I couldn't stand for a weekend and he taught me all of the different spirits and if I was mixing what to do or not to do. Then at sixteen I started clubbing and drinking regulary (every tuesday and saturday night) and learnt the hard way about some of the more obscure drinks and mixes. Now at 18 soon to be 19 I drink quite regulary but I also drink in a way that I remain in control very rarely do I get absoloutely smashed unless I am with people who I have never had problems with spoken or unspoken. Thats cause I'm an open guy and speak my mind usually and under the effects I'm ten times more open and it can get messy.
