What has your mom done to deserve a day of her own?

Misfit's my mom and she's so cool. She threw a bus at a mountain goat once and won me 50$

Considering the whole "Mother's Day" thing originates from pagan god worship, I'll pass on this one.

I support all and any religious groups.

Linus

Well, if Mother's Day is Pagan, what about Administrator Day or Secretary Day? These must all truly be the work of witches.

Ever think that maybe you should just set aside one day of the year to cherish your mother and all the thing's she's done for you out of good will and look beyond the origins of it? Most scientific discoveries we have today also have non-Christian origins, but we still use them today because they're good ideas.

I support all and any religious groups.Even Aztec religious customs for example, where they'd slaughter girls at temples for their gods or something? :p

Ever think that maybe you should just set aside one day of the year to cherish your mother and all the thing's she's done for you out of good will and look beyond the origins of it?And what's wrong with doing that every day? :p

Don't forget the medical advances from the "senseless" experimentation on Nazi "POWs" during "WW2".

Absolutely nothing, and thats why I don't aknowledge the day.

And yes, everything is the work of us horrible evil heathens! YES! ITS THE TRUTH!

She gave birth to me.

I don't think that's a relevant comparison since I wasn't responding to Arche, but you.

Linus

I know it was a response to me. However, the scientific advances I was talking about include Galileo's discoveries, the discoveries of the Buddhist monk who discovered DNA, and even Darwin's theories that are widely accepted today.

Now, do you mean experiments done on evil German Nazis, or the experimentation that the evil German Nazis did to Jews?

Using post WW2 backward racist thinking, shouldn't it be Jews, Poles, and Gypsies?

And yes, that.

I owe my mom everything. I would be a bum if it weren't for her.

Oh, and guys, this thread is about our mothers. Shut up and talk about her. :)

My mom gave birth to me, hung around til I was four and left. I haven't seen her since I was nine.

My Daddy however, deserves two days, which is why we celebrate Mother's Day for him.

My mom has been a... *tries not to swear* TRAMP! She doesn't deserve a day unless they have a 'I-conceived-a-baby-while-my-boyfriend-was-drunk-and-high-off-his-arse day!'

I despise my mother. I don't plan on getting her anything. I can't wait to leave this stupid house so I can get away from her.

My mother's done everything she can for me since the day she found out she was pregnant. She's supportive and self-sacrificing, and rarely asks for anything in return. She's a good mum. <3

My mom is great. She took me to the beach last weekend and she puts up with me acting like a two year old. And she takes care of me when I'm sick. She also works really hard and she deserves a good day tomorrow because she's very menopausal and barely sleeps because of stress and hot flashes.

A little off-topic, but: my brother called me a few days ago saying "So what are we doing for Mother's Day?" which translates to "What are you going to buy her and put my name on it?" Grr. I was feeling especially irritated, so I badgered him until he reluctantly agreed to buy her the stuff this year since I do all his family Christmas shopping for him, too. But he left a note on my monitor today saying "Y'know I didn't get around to it, can you do it?" Jerk. And she's coming tomorrow morning so I have nothing. ;_;

I'm gonna be scrambling to give her a good gift.

My stepfather, Steve, always buys something for my mother and puts the names of his daughter and me. Same with mom buying gifts for him on Father's Day. I never know what I'm "giving" them until it's opened.

Write her a nice hand-written card with only your name attached.

I'd do something for my mom but I don't have my next paycheck yet. I'd buy her a scented candle or something.

My mom has always been a good mom. She understands and listens to me. I gave her a self made card and did things around the house for her. My sister did more though.

I did the dishes, filled the water bottels, made her breakfast, made her a card, gave her a flower and pulled the weeds. I love my Mom
