Seifer doesnt have an ingraving. However some useless facts about Seifer:
He based his whole existance around a Novel- The Sorceress' Knight. You can see this by going to the library in Balamb Garden and checking which novels are overdue with the library comitee (not that you can get them back!)
Also- this is the name of the play Laguna is in when you fight the Red Dragon. Notice he fights with a gunblade and has an oddly familiar stance...... coincedence?
Perhaps the lack of ingraving shows Seifers distaste for anything expressive- after all, he was a bit of a heartless guy.

Seifers symbol looks like a cross. Its red and you find it on the sleeve of his trench. He's a christian rebel. No, more like he's a crusader.
So he decided not to pay the extra 1000gil to engrave something on his gunblade, he just spraypainted it on his sleeve.

Seifer's lack of adornment sets him apart from most FF characters. His ears aren't pierced, so he's a truly freakish outsider by FFVIII standards; his hair's short and in a simple, practical style; his necklace is little more than a narrow plate on a chain, close to the skin rather than hanging loose.
...Okay, so if we saw someone dressed like that, they'd stand out as over-dressed; but by FFVIII standards, he's very restrained. The red swords ('Fire Crosses', I like to think of them) on his coat are the only really distinguishing features, a personal 'monogram' of sorts, a kind of reflection of Squall's 'Griever' icon.
I'm certain that PhoenixAsh will use your observations as further conclusive proof of R=U, while Besimudo will explain how they show us that Seifer's really the hero while Squall is the infernal villain of FFVIII :D
