How to face Penance

I have defeated all the dark aeons. Now where's Penance? Can anyone tell me?

I have checked at the airship but theres no new location.

wow u done it already man? i had 210 hours or so clocked when i started penenance. you done the whole monster arena yet? that be good practise 4 penenance.

ok, hes at the calm lands. did u see the sequence of him flying out of the mountain? just go there on the world map screen and your enter into a fight with him. if u didnt see the sequence then u havent killed all the dark aeons.

p.s prepare to get your ass kicked, even the three dark magus sisters together r nothing to him. good luck

Thanx alot! :D i have played 164 hours and Tidus, Auron and Yuna has 255 str, 255, def, 255 magdef, about 170 mag for Tidus and Auron and Yuna 201, 255 agility, 241 acc, 43, 50 and 80 luck. They have 999mp and 36000+ hp. Still i may need better armor. Dark magus sissters took a loong time to beat. Nemesis was a joke (but not even close to the Omega weapon joke) :D

sweet. your actually close to being at a good enough state 2 beat him but i can say from your stats u wont win yet. i,ll tell u the most important thing if u get stuck but i think you may beat him without any tips which would be a fantastic achievment. :D

p.s its funny that imho nemesis is the 6th hardest ff boss, but the five above him r so much harder u lose sight of this and we all dismiss him as an ant lol.

It turned out that i only killed Dark Yojimbo one time so i had to kill him again. Now i have, however, battled Penance. Just one time yet, but he finished me in a few rounds. He is much faster than the most other bosses and cast slowga and dispel haste from you with most of his attacks. I guess i need autohaste. Well... i shall take on him again, later.
And a side qustion as well: what does the luck atribute relly do?

Luck is a kind of 'accessory stat'; it affects things like how often your character will evade a critical hit, or make a critical hit - in that regard, it influences Evasion and Accuracy. It might help a character avoid an Instant KO attack, too. Basically, it makes you more lucky in battle - how often your characters get turns, how well things turn out.

By the way... I've only ever beaten Penance once, and that way by using the time-honoured strategy of Overdrive Yojimbo. Zanmato is the key to instant - albeit easy - victory. It takes some people literally hours to beat Penance without using Zanmato.

lol i know how u feel about thoses bitchs but just trust me, a luck of about 120 or u just wont be able to beat penenance imho.

I think i was close to defeat him, but i'm not completely sure. He started to use imolation, all was fine until suddenly, DOOMSDAY!!!!! 90000+ damage. :) Well, now i know he uses that attack after a while. Next time i'm ready!
(i have 119 luck :D )

I will soon try one more time... that will be the 7th time i face him.
Auto protect may have been a better choise than hp+30% but it's too late to change that. But that doesn't relly matter that much i think.

actually auto protect is quite useful cause it cuts obliteration to 10000 and imolation to 15000(with max defense too naturally lol) but your right, over all it makes little difference. imho penenance was never hard because of powerful attacks, but his battle tactics.

I just defeated him! 9th try, nice explosion, 48 dark matter :eek: . I keep an save before him if i want to battle him again. :)

sweet :D many congratulations! what i find cool is without his arms he is pretty helpless and cant use doomsday either. how long did it take to beat this 12 million hp (plus 500,000 hp for each of the many arms u killed) boss?

and yes u should definitly fight him again. what is your final verdict on his difficulty?

Yea, the arms are the only problem and Mega gravion was what relly could kill you. You need to keep killing the arms before they strike. It took me about 1 hour and 15min i think. My overall super boss difficulty rating is 8/10. Compared to other super bosses: Omega weapon: 2, Emerald weapon: 3, Dark magus sissters: 6, Ozma: 6.
Penance is one of the hardest bosses i have yet fougth.
But i have yet to face something i could give 9 or 10. :D

The PAL version of the game was released in regions that use PAL format - namely, but not exclusively, the UK and Australasia.

If threads are over a year old then the original context of the question becomes out of date. These topics have a flow to them, and it is better just to start fresh than to refer to things said by people months ago.

The PAL version of the game will only work on systems from that area (the ones Big D mentioned). I think we are all just stuck with what you have.
