Okies, here's what's up:

The Choir is performing a concert on the 20th. Simple enough. 19 songs. I have a solo of a country song called 'Kiss This'. I am also doing a quartet piece called '1000 Words' (FFX-2).
I'm not worried about these songs. What worries me is that most of the choir doesn't know half of the music and that we have to do a Metallica song that we have practiced a whopping 2 WHOLE TIMES! 'Nothing Else Matters' takes a bit longer to memorize than that.
We have been saying that if we pull this off, we're freakin' miracle workers.
So, my topic is this:

What is the biggest thing you've done when the odds were against you?

Lucky, you got some good songs for Chior. We have mostly lame songs where altos sing almost nothing.

It depends how commited your chorus is. I mean, my chorus is a bunch of people who just talk and maybe 10 people who really wanna sing, so we need to rehearse like 50,000 times.

Paintball:

It's a five on five match, The Eagles vs. The Serpents. I'm on the Eagles. So, we have 30 seconds to take our positions. The timer goes off. This is a three hit elimination. As soon as the timer goes off, two of the Serpents surround one of our guys and he's out before he can even aim his weapon. I turn around too late, but I still get one of them once and the other twice. Another Eagle gets the second one a third time and he's out. And then the Serpents just pull some strategy out of their behinds and take out two Eagles at once. Now there's only two of us, on opposite sides of the field. Two Serpents trying to find me, two Serpents on him. I'm in a good spot, but they find the other Eagle and take him out. Now, it's me, the only Eagle left standing, against four Serpents. This is hopeless, I've already taken one shot. There's four of them, two have two shot, one has one, and the last hasn't taken a shot yet. I should just give up, I can't win. But I don't. First, I sneak up behind one of the two with two shots, and I take him out and hide again before they can see me. Then, I see the one with one shot. I get him once. Hide, get him again and he's out, but I also take a shot. I run. While running, I look behind and get the other one that had two shots, and he's out. And now, it's just me with two shots against the Serpent still with no shots. This is hopeless. If I can see him, he can see me. If I get a shot he'll see me and get a shot and he'll win. I should give up. But I don't. So, I devise a plan to throw off his perception. I find something on the ground, throw it away from me so he looks, but he doesn't fire. I'm making him nervous. I do this a few more times. And finally, one of the times I do this he starts firing at what he thinks is me, and then I get out, take three shot, and it's over, The Eagles win. *the crowd goes wild*

The moral of this story: Don't die until you're dead.

Paintball is fun.

Well I once was playing a game of DBZ cards with my friend Nate, he had all of these drills in play that if I did any damage to him he takes almost nothing, so I have my trumpcard, "Saiyan Pride" Physical attack, if stopped remove a drill in play of your choice.

I was failing 4 out of 6 of my classes last year, when the semester was almost over. An eventually came on top of just getting 1 F out of 6 by the end of the semester. An that 1 F was from Home Ek, I hated that teacher she was a bish.

So many things, which I can't be bothered to list here right now because I'm tired.

But, I have almost always believed in myself; it's just always been that there's often been people underrating me, or the odds just hasn't been that good for me. And I'm at my best when I have something to prove or people lacking faith in me.

It was the heist of the century, I tells ya. We were gonna blow the First Savings Bank - that is, me and my crew of "Joe" and "Pete." We had it all planned out: Pete knew a guy who knew a guy who could hook us up with some thermite. We was gonna fill up an empty drive bay of his laptop with it, install a simple detonation device, and when the time called, ignite it in the middle of the bank. That would be our distraction, y'know? Set off the fire alarms 'n stuff, cause panic and all. Then my cousin Mickey who works there was gonna come out and tell everyone out of the building nice and slow like while we snuck back towards the vault. Now, y'see, the problem came when Pete and Mickey were supposed to setup a security disabling device the night before, make it look like a routine check and all. Thing is Pete likes to hit the bottle, y'know? He had a lot of a couple of drinks and didn't set up the remote unit right on the console - the cops saw it all. Lucky Joe got us hooked up with some AKs for defense and a little extra C-4 in case we needed a quick escape. The cops came - just local cops, no biggy, got a few in the legs as warnings. Then they brought in the big stuff, SWAT 'n shit. Helicopters all over the place, I mean full-out riot gear. We didn't have much of a choice so we locked ourselves in the vault. You'da thought the C-4'd come in handy, but the vault was Goddam small, I tells ya. Would've blown our butts to smithereens. They kept shouting stuff at us and even tried a ram on the door, but nothing. Well, needless to say, I got hungry and ate Pete and Joe. After that I started getting some bad 'Nam flashbacks, went out and ate all of the SWAT unit's faces off and ran through the streets naked covered in the blood of my defeated foes. When I started running I just couldn't stop. Eventually I got to Mexico where I met my wife Josè . I now live there in a trailer off the border with my seven adopted sons.

It was the heist of the century, I tells ya.

I never do anything when the odds are against me. I'm defeatist, so if the odds are against me in anything I give up, curl up in a ball, and die.

I was going to put Viagra in a soda for a guy who used to always drink from my sodas. On Senior Graduation day. Completely flawless, if no one noticed then we'd have some thing to laugh about but if they did, about 50 cameras would be on him. Good-times.

Hey man, was it a little bit hard getting up there?
Hey man, don't get too excited, this is your big day... Don't come short.

It's gonna be a big day, I'm in that chior also. It's gonna blow because the stage will be so freaking hot with all of the lights, and it's a dinner theater so people will be eating pork and other salty/hot meals.

calliope your evil. ansem I do believe though you are truly F***ked on this with the choir Nothing else matters took me a backing vocalist for a band around a month of constant listening to get it right for no other reason than the lead siger wanted us to do a tribute performance of it. he didn't even know his words I ended up taking over at the third line. as for my best performance under pressure with the odds against me I have to say it was the assault course we did in a paint ball excercise (Cadets) 30 on 30 and I was on the "gotta get to the far end side" we were armed so we used fire team tatics to get through however I was the best shot on the side I covered my entire team through the assault course this left me alone to go through under fire from the entire enemy team at once. In the end with dodging, diving, rolling, and generally running like a mad man and shooting from the hip at them I made it through the assault course...with three broken ribs. The last obsticale was a trench that "Killed" a hell of a lot of my team so I bypassed it by leaping over sideways. missed the far side and hit my ribs on it breaking them (lucky for me no internal injuries otherwise) I managed to grit my teeth and drag my ass out of the trench and over the line to successfully complete the mission. unfortunately the other team made it through with one less casualty than us cause it was one man down

Calliope, I hate you.

Well, I learned today that I don't have to sing 'Nothing Else Matters' unless I want to. I can stand in the back and hide. As for '1000 Words', as long as the microphones are in position, I'll be fine! Thanx for sharing your experiences and keep 'em coming!

I think me getting back into school for the upcoming semster is going to be tough what with the lowness of cash and the familial problems around me. I plan to take 16 credit hours (our limit is 17), work part time, and write for the newspaper all while trying to maintain the soap opera-esque relationships around me. This is going to be fun! :)
