Protect vs. Protectra

Is there any difference between Protect and Protectra?

I've noticed that they both take the same amount of MP to cast. I would assume that Protect would last longer or be more effective as it targets a single person. If they are the same is there any reason for Protect?

I have been led to believe that Protect protects one character, a lot. Protectra protects characters in an Area Of Effect style, but it isn't as strong. I may be wrong but that's what I think.

Protectra will hit everyone in your party, provided that they're close enough, but doesn't last as long.

Except when exping in Valkurm, I tend to prefer Protect so that I can build up my enh skill.

Dont believe its true, the only thing Protectra does its that its party based, and that protect can go on anyone, outside pt and in, just on a singular person. I do not believe its any weaker. WHMs are loved by their -ra series.
