EGM is doing an interview with me and they want to know what strange or juicy facts our site provides reguarding the series that people couldn't get at another site...

What strange or juicy Final Fantasy facts ARE THERE... I can only think of a few easter eggs scattered throughout the series. Can anyone give me some ideas?

It's really more the discussion of the FF series as a whole that attracts me to this place. It's hard to get that anywhere else, most sites focus on FFI or FFVII and up.

Juicy tidbits? Well, there's the backstories of the team that created the original (Amano, Uematsu, Gebelli, Sakaguchi, etc.) but I don't know how interesting that is.

Do a search for all of Kishi's posts. He's posted all kinds of juicy stuff.

Yeah, what Del said about Kishi's posts. He's posted a long list of all of square's RPGs somewhere, that might be interesting. You find out news of games a lot quicker than magazines around the net, and this site. Don't forget FFMusicDJ or whatever that guy's name was, if that has anything to do with the series. I guess it does though because he makes remixes to the games' music. I'll think of more things later.

Not many people will see this thread in here. Might be a good idea to just punch it to GC being that its more of a general discussion and you can do whatever you want, heh.

We certainly tend to cover and scrutinize a lot of obscure details concerning how the games were translated.

Yay for Ted Woosley.

If by "Yay for" you mean "Death to."

Um... I'm sure there were plenty. I'll try to think of some especially good ones in due course.

If that wasn't sarcasm before, I would have shot myself right after typing that. :)

Oh man, we're going to be famous!

*reads thread date* Damn, its a week old.

Oh well. You should tell them Kishi is an alpha-tester for FFXIII.

Since we are, to the best of my knowledge the largest forum/site as far as current members go, you can make a point to mention the wide variety of races and cultures that all find their unique points of view within Final Fantasy. Does someone from the USA or UK see a game exactly the same as someone from Russia or Norway or even Brazil? Certainly an interesting thing to ponder.

Take care all.

You should also tell them that HOOTERS is really Nobuo Uematsu's alter ego.

Or that Final Fanatasy is uniting people from all over the world in hatred of Ted Woosley.

As far as juicy facts go, I'd delve into the discussions on the storylines, I've seen quite a few in the varied forums. The Sephiroth one for example. All that speculation and explanation is bound to have some gems. Big D has been known to post some pretty interesting stuff, for example.

I dunno about that anti-Woolsey business... I posted an anti-Woolsey thread and all the FFVIers flipped out. I thought it was funny, probably because I was right. That's usually how these things go.

You should tell them... oh my god...

GOGO IS ADLAI STEVENSON!!!

Yeah, the Adlai thing would be great to mention; it doesn't get any juicier than shocking similarities between an enigmatic FFVI character and a prominent mid-twentieth century politico. Even though we didn't come up with it. Heh.

I just like the fact that it covers nearly all aspects of each game in the series, plus the forum let's us discuss more about the game.

Good man.

And I was actually under the impression that Spatvark himself was the one who came up with the Gogo=Adlai theory, although I think he first posted it on FFO. In which case we tecnhically could claim it as ours, since Spatvark is one of us much more than an FFO member, I'd say. ;)

Here's a strange fact:
Mog :mog: is a girl in FFIX.

Gogo=Adlai, I've heard that in so many places. We'll just says it's ours anyway.

I have had a website on the Gogo=Adlai rumor for about a year now.

I have been reading old posts here for research. A fellow by the username of Spatvark emailed me recently about my website and said that it was either Kawaii Ryűkishi or Big Ogre Umaro who started the rumor, and both frequent eyesonff.

During my research, the earliest post that I could find dated back to early January 2001, and was posted on GameFAQs. All subsequent posts appear to be from that post because the GameFAQs board at the time parsed quotation marks into two small quotation marks ( ' ' rather than " ).

In other words all subsequent posts seem to have been copy/pasted originally from that one GameFAQs post.

I was able to trace this post back to a user named Claudius Aquilla, who I was able to contact through email.

Basically CA says he started the rumor around Oct 2000 and found the quotes accidentally while doing a research project in school. He seems to know of all the people on GameFAQs and FFO at the time, as well as a lot about the quotes themselves and Adlai Stevenson.

Anyway, I'm fairly certain Claudius Aquilla started the rumor. I can't prove this of course, but I can DISPROVE it if you send what information you know about this. I will include any contributor in the Acknowledgments section of my website.

And btw sorry for dredging.

I don't think anyone here ever actually took that theory seriously apart from you ;p

The R=U thing would be good along with the Sephiroth theories. Other than that all I can think of is the original Japanese names for stuff. Missing out on the wonderswan releases mght be something.

I can't believe a website I've donated pages to is going to be in such a big magazine. WOW!

Careful scrutiny over many details, such as nomenclature, origins, theories, and the likes? And Unne's Invisible girl on FF1....

Cid, you should seriously tell them the story about how a normal FFVII debate turned into a FLAME WAR over what material Vincent's coffin was made out of.

Oh, and mention how... ***FFVI SPOILERS***...

It can be interpreted that Shadow is Relm father through the optional dreams (just spend the night at random places) in the World of Ruin. They might know this, but that's all I got right now.

That and whether or not Vincent had Jenova cells implanted in him was also argued in that post.

I noticed that after I posted. I left my post in here because I thought it was important for everyone to know about the Vincent coffin flame war. It is a reminder of how far things can go...

I just realized the same the other day when I PM'd Cid about what issue of EGM the interview was in. I remember that thread as well. The debate over vincent having Jenova cells infused in him was also flamed in it.
