luck??

i was wondering, what the **** does luck do? i never figured that out, and does that count for other FF's as well?
If i remember well, this question was asked a little while ago (about a year :p ) too. But i cant find the topic, sorry for that. But can someone explain that to me?

Okay go to the menu and then go to it's nort satus it's ... wait... somewher where it's the SeeD test and there in the same place that there are the SeeD test there is one part that explains what it's Luck, Eva and so many others!

I'm pretty sure in FF8 Luck is a status junction - in other words, a stat that you can junction magic to. However, its not one that all the characters have - I think you need a J-Luck scroll to acquire it. The higher your luck stat, the more "lucky" you are in battle. For instance, with a high Luck stat, its more likely that Odin will come and kill your enemies for you, or mugging will be more successful.

If I'm not mistaken, luck also determines the chances of critical strikes.
