This elaborates my views on the paperclip.

Edit: Guess I should warn that the video does contain instances of the "F" word.

I stupidly voted before reading your post properly, and I didn't realise that you were referring to the Windows Paperclip, as opposed to regular office paperclips. In answer to your question: I hate the Windows Paperclip, and I want it to go away.

Oh, I'm sorry. I keep forgetting I'm not allowed to do that since I don't have a special title under my name.

But I said the word, ''DAMN'' So why don't I get in trouble?"Damn" and the "f-word" are not quite the same thing, though I'm sure you realize that.

This thread is not the appropriate place to debate whether or not we like the rules here. If its brought up again in this thread, all the off-topic posts will be deleted (including this one).

Windows RG (http://www.deanliou.com/WinRG/) parodies the paperclip rather nicely. In fact, it's all pretty good.

That was quite amusing, and the Paperclip died. :)

I never use the Assistant for assistance, but I always have the Cat on because it's cute and it purrs and scratches my screen. :cat:

The annoying thing about using Works instead (which I typically prefer) is that you have to be sure to save everything as rich text if you intend to transfer it to other computers. For example, for schoolwork. So I use word, and I also hate the paperclip/dog/whatever else it can change into. It makes me feel homicidal... but can one call a feeling homicidal if you only intend to murder a tiny program?

The Wandering Zero
06-12-2004, 07:35 AM
If it was a sentient program, yes. But since it's just a little added feature, and it can be easily shut off, it's only like, a vehicular manslaughter charge in Illinois. You can get one of those for going 30 MPH over the speed limit over there.

Peegee

How do you shut it off? I don't see it, but whenever I copy things more than once the bastid shows up and drives me insane!

I always thought the paperclip/dog/cat/whatever was kind of cute. Just freaked me out when it was Einstein. o.o Didn't like the Einstein.

Right-click, hide, POOF! no more Paperclip. ^_^

The power to right-click things makes me feel so... so damn right-clicky!
