Isn't that song the greatest? Actually since it's not an a priori concept there's some semblance of esoteria. So I'll elaborate. It's a song title by an artist called Tommy Tutone.

But that's not the point of this thread. Oh no. The point is abusing the esoteria:

Ladies: if you have ever been asked to give out your phone number, have you ever used the above phone number? If so, how did it go? If not, why aren't you out there giving out your phone number as 867-5309?

Mandies: have you ever received said phone number? Did you/do you now know what it means? If you didn't, can I laugh at you?

*expects nobody to get it*

If not, why aren't you out there giving out your phone number as 867-5309? Because I live in australia the phone numbers are completely different here :)

in the UK that might just pass as a cell phone number. otherwise no. and I've never recieved it from someone generally I get the real number of the girl in question cause I just lay it out for them "If you wanna reject me then thats fine just do it and you know if your interested in friendship then lets talk a little" not exact words but in the right area there.

Good song, PG. :)

No one asks for my phone number, but that's a good one to use...even though my name isn't Jenny. :)

I'm a guy, and I've never asked for a chick's phone number. No need to, all the girls I've gone out with have their numbers in the directory.

When I was at layout for the school paper we called the rejection hotline, that thing is great. I wish I remember the number for the one in IL.

But see, giving a fake number and then 'magically having to leave because of some irrational reason' is less trouble causing -- the man thinks he's getting somewhere and the female leaves.

Imagine if she said 'no' -- questions, queries, and the like. She'll seem stuck-up, and etc.

All the girls I've asked for numbers have given legitimate ones. I guess that's good. Although none of them were really worth pursuing. I guess that's not so good.

And she is if she can't give the guy a chance....unless he said "I eat babies" or something

Somebody once told me their number was 2341212. I didn't know what the hell it was till I dialed it.

Joel: what was it? I tend to be slow at these things

Pies: imagine if every girl HAD to girl every guy a little bit of dating time? C'mon, that's just unrealistic.

I've never asked anyone for their number, so my answer to the above question would be "no".

Saying "No" to a number request still seems like the best way to go about things.

There's a loan place with a phone number almost identical to our except for two switched numbers and we get their calls all day so if someone asks me for my number I give them the loan places phone number. Good fun.

234-1212

I don't know what that is around joel, but in our part of the country
*anything* ending in 1212 gives either police or fire (331-1212, 333-1212, 226-1212 etc.) (and, yes, we do have 911, but that goes to county emergency while 1212 goes straight to the local department)

No, and I grew up with the song, so if I did get handed the number by chance, I'd know right away. xD

Interesting story, though: A girl named Erin supposedly gave me her phone number, (I asked for it, actually. I had a crush on her for about a week.) although it turned out to be a guy's number. You see, she had a male friend (just a friend, they weren't together or anything....) named Aaron. And then, mysteriously, my crush on her seised to exist. =D Life is funny like that, you know.
