after the horrors of ffIX Yans Comet spell and Ozmas Meteor spell (half the time it did 9999 to everyone and was oftern followed by curse to wipe out party again after the auto life) i,m glad it has not returned. it would be really weak anyway. Meteor may have reigned supreme in ffIV and ffV but its days are forever over.

And just for the record, Meteor IS in FFX, just not on the grid. Behemoths inside of Sin cast it right before they die.
