It creates a kind of contrast.
Her appearance might be considered 'raunchy', with her minimal clothing and capacious bosom. However, anyone who's expecting an "I'm-hot-and-don't-I-know-it" bimbo character would be very much disappointed, since she's actually a quiet, compassionate character with no sexual extroversion at all. I think it's an interesting idea - take a "stereotypical video game hottie" and give her a pesonality that doesn't match the stereotype at all.

It all goes to show that appearances are only skin deep, and looks don't determine who you really are.

The three women in FFVII all have radically different body types. The same could be said of the men, as well. Identical characters are dull, so it adds variety.

Hm... I suppose that's a win-win situation. :) Some will recognize the qualities of the game and buy/value it for that, and the dumb *beep* who buy the game for Tifa's hooters will be shown the error of their ways. If they have the IQ to read the displayed language. Either way, Square made some dough.

An' I've been spoiled with games that were actually written by people who have English as their native tongue, and the music was never really that J-popish (I'm allergic to THAT, ye ken). Don't start thinking I'm becoming a fan o' FF7 now - I've got a reputation to uphold. :p

I think they gave Tifa big breasts in the hopes that everybody would stare at her (slightly squarish) jugs instead of going "Why the hell does Cloud have hooves for hands?"

Either that or the animators on graveyard shift could never get home early enough to get some and... well... yeah. Moving on now. **hangs his head in shame and apologizes to animators** :cry:

And I noticed the ending pose too. The first time I noticed it was when I had Tifa as the only frontline fighter (and wasn't distracted by Cloud's big-ass sword) and all of a sudden she was sticking out halfway across the screen. Glad my little sister wasn't in the room.

Tifa´s breast is just like the femenine sexi part of the game, Aeris got big ones too, but she got some clothes, have you look yuffie Legs ?, jejeje, Rinoa´s Butt ?,Quistis Body ?, Garnet Skin ?, Yuna Clothes ?, and I got not to mention that the DVD of FFX-2 Smell Feromonas . so they make a character that lots of fans will find physically attractive? Since when is that 'bad'? Would Final Fantasy have been a better game if they made all the characters have commpletely ugly (or forgettable) mugs, so that people could 'concentrate on the plot'. People like to see beautiful things. For some people big breasts are beautiful. Squaresoft makes characters people like to see. It's not like the big breasts are in the way of the plot, right?

(okay, if wa WANT to complain, a martial artist would have SOME problems doing all the ass-kicking with that weight on her chest, but we're in a world where extra strength makes people with GUNS hit harder...)

Furthermore, I'm no fan of big breasts myself.

Maybe its just because FFVII characters are small so they stand out more. But, we don't have to worry about those knockout knockers anymore in FF:AC since Tifa recieved the biggest breast reduction in world history.
