I know Matt asked this before, but I have a valid reason why Former Staff should have hold more PMs than a regular member. In fact, I'll be doing something, and that may need more PM space than what I currently have as a Former Staff. I would like to see Former Staff hold more PMs please. I hate deleting PMs, as I had to do that when I resigned as Cid's Knight, and it was a pain. ><
So could you do this for Former Staff? It's really not much to ask for. :)
Thanks for any consideration.

Why "Former Staff" though? Just because you want more PM space does that really mean that the Former Staff user group deserves more PM space? I think its just a ploy.
Not that I acctually mind you having more PM space, I just wanted to pick on your reasoning. :)
I'm fine with increasing PM space for FS. Actually, I think FS, RM, SS, and SSS should have more PM space than regular members. Why not? They're more likely to have more PMs, aren't they?

FS especially since when when they leave the staff group they would have leftover pms from before that might take them over the limit. We will discuss this, Proto.

Yeah. When I left staff I had to delete a ton of PMs. I wish I would deleted the newer ones instead of the older ones. ;_;

Um, according to the discussion we had in Staff Forum this was decided in favor of and already implimented, three months ago. Are you getting messages that you are over the pm limit? How many do you have, exactly?

Never leave staff and you won't have this problem.
If you give it to FS give it to those other groups, I say.

A thread from March says staff gave FS unlimited PMs and the ability to close their own threads.

That was pre VB3 upgrade wasn't it? The hack likely got reset.

I'd like to see a new "Super Cool" status that gets more PMs too. Not that I get any PMs any way. I just want to feel special. :(

I have 1259 at the moment. And at least 2000 more in backups on my computer. And probably another 1000-2000 for Award Guy's backups. The 1259 I have date back to 14th March 2003.

I was able to admin for three years without going over the 500 message limit. It's called THROWING THE OLD CRAP OUT.
For example: Someone PMs me to get a name change. I change the name. I immediately delete the PM. I do not come back ten years later and say "Oh, yeah, cloud95212 wanted his name changed to squall95212 back in 1876. I wonder if I ever did that"

I've never gone over 500 either. If it gets high I just clear them all. :p

As a non-admin, <s>I don't get name change requests</s>
OH WAIT. :mad2:
But yeah, I'd say the amount of PM's I have that are staff related aren't really many. More Site Staff than Forum Staff, too... but more often than not it's just a nice way to contact someone while I'm at work and don't want to turn AIM on.
EDIT: Why do you guys clear them when you don't need to?

Because at the time, I was working my hoo-has of to keep the server from barthing, or GSN from cutting off our hosting because of our database being to big. A billion PMs cluttering up the database seemed to me like a really good way to rape it, so I didn't.
I have 80 in my inbox right now and that includes copies of ones I sent. This dates back about three years. I haven't deleted very many. So yeah, I don't know how people need space for hundreds.

I've sent and received maybe at the most, 450 PMs, in all my time here.

I have 1001 at the moment. I guess that includes sent as well as received. I had to clear out a few hundred once because my box was full, but now I can go as high as 65535. This is good because I don't like to delete PM's. :)

did you give RMs unlimited PMs too? (I know you haven't yet)
also, RMs should be able to edit the titles of their threads.

One step ahead of you. :)
Archie says everyone can (edit thread titles), so try it out. We're working on it.

Man, ya'll are a bunch of packrats.
I feel like I'm suffocating from too many PM's when I have more than a dozen and I go through and prune the fat out.
Before I cleared out my PM box a few weeks ago, I had 250 or so, dating right back to my newbie days in 2001. Out of these, 0 were important.
If you really must retain every piece of junk ever sent to you, save it in a Word document.
