Video Game Music/TSW Forum

I would like to make a suggestion for a name change for this specific forum. Seeing that Square-Enix is coming up with a new movie, which is basically the "sequel" to Final Fantasy VII, "FFVII:Advent Children."

I would like to suggest that the name be changed to Square-Enix/Video Game Multimedia so that it can cover not only Video Game Music and The Spirit Within, but to all multimedia created by Square-Enix and other gaming companies. The current name is a bit misleading and outdated anyway. :p

But if it's turned into a game music/game movie forum, that'd create confusion with the regards to other movie-based games. Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Aliens vs Predator... do they go in the Lounge, or in GM/GM?

However, game music could just as easily go in the Lounge, too, as general music discussion, or in General Gaming.

But really... Proto has a point.
A forum that's for game-related stuff - movies, music - would be better than one that's just for game music and one game movie, as it is now.

Discuss video game music, movies and related works in here.

That could work... as long as people remember not to post fan-art in it.

I hope nobody's actually thinking of having the FFVII:AC threads in that forum. They belong in the FFVII forum. That's got to be the most bleeding obvious thing. Can someone clear up what they want?

That's the tough part. If the FGM/TSW forum gets re-defined in any way, a lot of other threads suddenly become "in the wrong place".

That's why status quo is so much more convenient at times.

In fact, VGM/TSW could probably be done away with altogether. VGM discussions would fit nicely in the Lounge, or in General Gaming for "which game's got the best music?"-type comparison threads. TSW discussion - such as it is - fits into the Lounge or into General FF, depending on what exactly is being discussed.

The VGM/TSW forum gets little traffic as it is... it it were removed entirely, it wouldn't disrupt anything too much.

Yes, good points. My two options would be:

1) As Big D said, do away with the forum altogether.
2) Leave the forum as it is - for music and for The Spirits Within. Any movies that are related to a specific game can go in either the respective FF forum or else The Lounge.

#1 is probably the better option, the more I think about it. There should be a little note under General SE saying "The Spirits Within can also be discussed in this forum."

Since it's a SE movie (I think?), there's no harm in having it in General SE.

No, it would be for Square Enix game music, just like all the other forums in SE. Meanwhile, music from other games (or a mixture of SE and other games) would belong in general gaming, just everything else to do with gaming. That's the whole point of having the Square Enix forums - to focus on anything SE.

I think Kishi said it a bit simpler than me but yeah, I agree with him.
