Hello good people. I am in the midst of fishing. My fishing level isnt even 1....so I want to know what's the best possible way to get your fishing level status up. And can someone please explain to me how you level up in ranks? I keep going to the head person at the fishing guild in windurst and she says she doesnt have anything to discuss with people under novice....I have like 5 moat carps.

Get Fishing gear, the body feet legs and hands, and a bamboo rod, and a stack of insect paste should do well. Then fish in cities fresh waters(not the ports) and fish moat carp to raise skill. If you wish to sell them thats ok, or just give em to the LuShang quester in Sandy(10,000 moat carps to get an elusive LuShang Fishing rod). To raise skill you talk to the person who signed you up, and that person will ask you to fish one particular fish and give it to her.

Okay I have a rig and a bamboo rod. But no the paste. Im gonna try and buy a carbon rod if I get enough gil. But to raise my skill even higher, do I just fish?

Oh and you said Lushang Quester...in sandy. Whats that? Or wheres that? Or whos that?

I'd spare that 12k and buy a composite rod. Carbon rod costs 4k and it can break on freshwater, unlike composite.

Yea if your going to go Fishing, invest in all the fishing gear and composite rod, bamboo works fine at first, but if your going to dab into higher lvls, composite is the way to go.

Lu Shang quester is in Port SanDoria and around the port fishing, if you see him you can activiate the quest, trade him 10,000 moat carps, and gain the legendary Lu Shang rod. It is THE best rod ever, better than composite, even though it can still break. Hence why many people that do fishing, also lvl woodworking to a high lvl so they can repair their own rods with a Light Crystal.

Dont use the rig, if you lose the bait and break the rod, there goes your rig...i dont think i will even think of the rig before i get high enough skill lvl to not lose the rod easily.

Um....ya know.....10,000 moat caprs is well........a lot lol. Uh, Im guessing "slice of carp" bait works good. And the insect paste. So I'm hoping just to catch some fishes...lol...Should I fishing inside the town?

I have a fishing pole , but where do I get a rig ?

Different poles cater to different waters and fishes as well as certain baits, so insect past and composite or bamboo, inside freshwater will net you moat carp. 10,000 is alot, but there are people that done it. Patience is a virture here like every real fisherman.

I have no idea what the Slice of Carp actually fishes up tho, insect paste is most reliable.

Rig? Some bazaars might have em, AH, and of course the fishing guild.

I wouldn't recommend getting rig untill you have a very good rod and skills, but I could be wrong. I mean, at fishing level 11, my line still breaks sometimes, and when line breaks you'll lose that expensive rig for good.
