FFX-2 Endings FAQ

1) How many endings are there?


There are 5 different versions of endings altogether. Apart from the perfect ending, the endings are based on tasks you complete and not your percentage score.

Bad Ending

- Requirements: Don't defeat Vegnagun's head in time/lose in battle against Vegnagun/don't defeat Shuyin before he says seven sentences.

- What happens: : Vegnagun's big cannon fires and Spira is destroyed. You'll then get a Game Over music.



Normal Ending

- Requirements: This is the ending you'll always see just for completing the game, however if you didn't complete other necessary requirements, you'll only see this ending. The other endings are just extra scenes on top of this one.

- What happens: Gippal, Baralai and Nooj make a speech in Luca. Yuna, Rikku and Paine ride on top of the airship, Yuna accepts she won't see Tidus again.



Normal Ending with extra scene

- Requirements: After you see the "Chapter 5 Complete" message, and Yuna is in the field of flowers (Farplane Abyss) press "X".

- What happens: In the Farplane Abyss you see Tidus appear and hug Yuna. She tells him she loves him, and he disappears again. (This is just a cut-scene, not an FMV). Then you see the Normal ending as above.



Good ending

- Requirements:
1) Speak to Maechen in Guadosalam in Chapter 3
2) Keep whistling (by pressing X) in the Farplane at the end of Chapter 3, until Tidus' ghost escorts you out of there.
3) Whistle (press X) in the flower field in the Farplane Abyss after completing Chapter 5.

When the Fayth gives you the option choose "Yes".

- What happens: You see the Normal ending, then a scene with Tidus and Yuna in Besaid.

Note: If you fulfil the criteria for the good ending but when the Fayth appears, you choose the option "It's better this way", you'll only see the Normal ending.



*** Perfect ending ***

- Requirements - Fulfil the requirements for the Good ending and get 100% completion.

- What happens: You see the Normal ending, Good ending, and then an extra scene with Tidus and Yuna together at the Zanarkand Ruins where Tidus explains why he's back.


2. How do I get 100%?


Use an 100% completion guide. There's one on the frontsite here: http://www.eyesonff.com/ff10-2/walk1.shtml. You can also find other detailed FAQs and walkthroughs at www.gamefaqs.com.

3. I want to see the endings, but I don't want to complete the game! Where can I download them?


www.ffx2.net seems to be dead. So I don't know right now.

The perfect ending is only a cutscene with in-game graphics. It's not an FMV so that's why it's not in the site Xander mentioned. I've only been able to download the perfect ending in Japanese when I've searched through file sharing programs, and read the script to see what they say in the perfect ending.

I hate to nit-pick, but you can't get the Bad Ending by losing to Shuyin. You get it by getting your party annihilated during the battle against Vegnagun's head (losing to other body parts or Shuyin doesn't trigger the ending) or by taking too long in the battle against Vegnagun's head. If one of those things happen, Vegnagun's big cannon fires and Spira is destroyed. And you'll get the Game Over music.

EDIT: Just for the sake of clarity, Good Ending version 2 (choosing "It's better this way") is practically the same as the Normal Ending.

Edit - Changed it to 5 endings, but with a note about the good ending. I haven't seen it so I didn't know if it was a totally different ending or what. Do you think that's okay now? ^_^

eternalshiva: That's interesting. I've never lost to Shuyin, but it would be quite weird for Vegnagun's big cannon to blast off anywhere outside the battle against the head. Before that battle, the cannon hasn't been set up, and after that, the head and the cannon have been destroyed. So even if you lose to Shuyin, Vegnagun is already destroyed by that time.

Xander: Yes, the ending list seems fine now. I think GameFAQs and Square Enix USA's FFX-2 website also had some detailed information about every ending and how to get them.

eternalshiva: Ah, okay. I stand corrected. Does losing to pre-head forms of Vegnagun still get you just the game over thing and no bad ending cutscene, though?

You get the cut scene of the Canon Blast by Vegnagun, destoying Spira if you die battling him. Any other deaths before the Vegnagun fight, you just get The End theme. But if killed while fighting VG, you get the cutscene. :P

Yuku, just seeing Yuna return to Besaid and reunite with Tidus isn't the Perfect Ending. That's just the Good Ending. The perfect ending shows the two together in Zanarkand having a conversation. It sounds to me like you got those endings a bit mixed up.

i found that Al Bhed Machina more of a challenge (especially since i "accidentally" made its attack level 5 *sheesh..* and my party's health was arnd 2500 on average)

The good ending. MUCH better than the perfect one, which is crap. You also get to see the meaning of Tidus swimming at the end of X.

Well I say the perfect ending is the best. At the very end Tidus & Yuna are sitting at the beach in Zanarkand, Yuna pushes Tidus into the water to make sure that he doesn't dissapear again, proving Tidus is real, there until he gets gray & old.

i started playing FFX-2 a little while ago..i remember i have downloaded a video from the net which shows Yuna sings and during her song it shows some scenes with Shuyin and Lenne getting shooted in front of Vegnagun..
is this a part of the game or is a cut scene and you need to accomplish some special tasks?

i think you only see that scene in the music video (which does actually play at some point in the game, possibly end of chpt 3?) however you get to see a little bit more if you collect all the crimson spheres and head on down to the cave at mushroom rock road.

That piece you see at the end of chapter 3 im prety sure (as skye1986 said) it's part of the concert on the thunder plain where Yuna and Lenne sing.:)

This website has many FF FMV's from all the games. It also has the *perfect* ending scene from X-2, in English. However there are two servers you can download it, the super-reliable, always up one, - which you have to pay for. :( Or the other thats only up 30% of the time, pot-luck,I kept trying for a few days till I got it safely on my real player *watchs the perfect end scene again* Awww!!

If you miss something that's needed to get 100% then the best thing to do, is finish the game then start the New Game Plus. Then you can make sure you get everything that time round. So you play it again but you'll keep all your dressspheres, items and stuff, so you can have a different experience playing the second time round.

I'm not sure about those crimson spheres, I cannot think what was in that door...

There are actually six endings to FFX-2. There is the bad ending (occurs by losing to Vegnagun [Fourth Ignition]; or by allowing Vegnagun to fire on Spira); two normal endings, two good endings, and the Perfect Ending.

Spoilers are not included.


The first normal ending is simply what occurs whenever you beat the game.

The second normal ending includes everything shown in the first normal ending, as well as an additional scene. This scene can be triggered by pressing [X] in the Farplane Abyss when the Chapter 5 Complete message is shown. The additional scene is not available if you qualify for either good ending or the Perfect Ending.

The first good ending allows you to see the first normal ending, as well as well as the first good ending sequence. In order to qualify for the good endings (this and/or the next), you must complete two tasks in Chapter 3. The first is to talk to Maechen when you visit Guadosalam; the second is to press [X] until you hear whistling four times when Yuna falls down to the Farplane Abyss. Now, when you press [X] at the end, the fayth will give you two options. Choose [Yes!] to see this version of the good ending.

Do all this and choose [It's better this way] to see the regular sequence and the alternate "good" ending. As long as you complete the two tasks in Chapter 3, percentage is irrelevant. However, if you choose the second option, you won't see the Perfect Ending if you have 100%.

For the Perfect Ending, do the Chapter 3 tasks, and earn 100%. Choose [Yes] to see the regular ending, first good ending, and Perfect Ending cutscene conclusion.

The second good ending does include elements beyond the regular normal ending, although what happens isn't really all that "good." Nevertheless, it is a separate ending.

Well, I have the guide to it, but-I don't know. There are some typo's-but, it says that the common ending occurs in all of them, I think. If you don't have 100% completion, then you'll just see the common ending. The good ending is when you take down Vegnagun piece by piece, but if you don't have one 100% you won't see the perfect ending.

And finally, the perfect ending-take down Vegnagun, not just the leg or the game will end auto, the faith ask if you want to see someone-say yes, and there you go.

You cannot get the perfect ending with 92% even on a new game plus believe me my friend got the ending and 100% and it was different from the good ending i got at 94% so yea i am working on getting the perfect one myself. :moogle: :moomba:

I got the 100% game rating and the secret ending it took me three playthroughs of X-2 to achieve and it's well worth it just to get the secret 100% completion ending :)

I also had copies of all the endings but i may have deleated them off my computer! :cry:

Yes, that is the reason hes in the water in X.
But you have to tell the Aeons 'Yes' then select the other
option after (I forgot what it was.) then shes at Zanarkand
with Tidus.

Tidus doesn't actually spend two years underwater. The similarity between the scenes merely suggests that, to a degree, they're interchangable. Tidus, as evidenced by FFX/X-2, spent two years on the Farplane. The Good and Perfect Endings allow the gamer to witness his return.

Well i got the ending in the farplane do you have to have done the crimson cave to complete it all i know is shuyin is a sandwich short of a picnic because why would he posses people just because he got owned 1000 years ago he doesnt even look like tidus and trema is he in the bevelle warp thing pacce found, [i have beat kinoc.]

To get 100% you have to do both the Den of Woe and Bevelle Cloister missions. Both are somewhat difficult especially the Cloisters! Shuyin doesn't look like Tidus..hes thicker in the face or something n.n Tidus looks more like a caucasian/japanese peter pan. Trema is on the final floor of the Cloisters. He is extremely difficult to defeat but, the catnip trick is the best way to defeat him.

What's the catnip trick? Please describe. Anyway, it's hard to get any of the 'bad' endings, as you should be a high enough of a level to defeat Vegnagun... The enemies on the farplane abyss (I think that's the area just before Vegnagun, are way too strong for you not to be at a level to defeat Vegnagun... What are the bad endings? Can someone give me a link to their videos? Please? I don't know how you'd even make it to Vegnagun without being at a level in which it's possible to defeat him, unless you're wearing a charm bracelet which eliminates random battles... Then why would you do that at the end of the game? Man this is all giving me a huge headache! Someone please! give me those links to the english version of those videos!

You could always lose on purpose.

catnip= gunner dressphere and critical(yellow) hp. your trigger happy will do 9999 damage per trigger pull.

I have acheived the perfect ending and I was slightly disappointed that Tidus didn't say those 3 little words to yuna. I was totally expecting it and had been hoping for it since FFX. And I think I've set a new record for finishing it. I got the perfect ending without new game plus in 18 hours. finished game at lvl 28.

You do NOT need to complete the Via Infinitro to acheive 100 percent. Lvl 40 is as far as you need to go. Tested it twice just to make sure.

Not true. I got 100% without doing the Bevelle Cloister. As Final Fantasy Sage says all you need is to get to level 40 to get the last 2 crimson spheres (the darn thing has 101 levels each one more impossible than the other). With all crimsom spheres you can open the Den of Woe and get 100%

Yep, pretty much. By getting 100% you see the "Normal Ending" with the 3 girls at the Celsius Deck, the Good Ending with Yuna and Tidus meeting at Besaid and the Perfect Ending with Yuna and Tidus in Zanarkand

Pretty good idea! Get the good ending and then watch your video, don't bother getting 100% for it, it isn't worth the hassle IMHO. And it is not just me who says it:

Just here to ask a quick question. I've never let Vegnagun kill me during the final fight, and it's stated you'll see it fire on Spira if you lose. Well, this scene sounds interesting and I may go back and do it. Is it an FMV or just a in-game scene? Also, is it buyable at Luca after you witness it or not? I don't think it is, as to witness it, you need to lose, but I just want to make sure...
