I don't get hiccups.

I've been told that if you hold your breath for as long as you can, the hiccups will go away. The only unfortunate side-effect to that method is untimely death, but only if you hold your breath for too long.

Hahaha, I <3 HOOTERS.

I drink water to cure hiccups, which I haven't had in years. My third grade teacher had this weird way of curing them, though. You'd put your right index finger into your right ear and your left finger into your left ear, while staring at someone. That actually worked.

Someone I know's diathingy (that muscle under the lungs that controls breathing and the rib cage) was pulled out of place and he ended up having constant hiccups which caused him to stop breathing when he was asleep but he didn't stop hiccuping after being rushed to hospital.

Anyway, the medical cure is to do some excercise, as that's what the hospital people told him to do and it worked :elk:

I do sort of the same thing, Hoot, but I turn upside down in a chair and drink water. Works every time.

Either hold my breath, or start breathing really fast and deep (hyperventillating.... just don't do it too much, or you'll faint). It usually helps... and I only use those methods if the hiccups are painful or disturbing. If it's one little hiccup every minute, I don't mind.. I just let it pass.

This is the method I taught myself. I fill up a glass with water. Then I drink a mouthful but I don't swallow it. As soon as another one of those buggers comes up, drink that water! You have to be fast though. Don't worry, if you're to slow, the water won't come flying out of your mouth. Trust me.

3 steps, works for me!

step 1: Skull down vast amounts of coke
step 2: Try to burp

if hiccups should still occur

step 3:repeat "steps 1 and 2"

Usually, the only way to get rid of hiccups for me is to be scared.

I just got a new one last night. Take two packets of sugar and empty them into your mouth and eat the sugar. Don't drink anything. Voila. I was so happy last night when that worked.

That's the way my grandma taught me.

Meh, I rarely have them. And when I do, I mostly just ignore them, or drink a glass of water and they are gone. I've never tried to use those other strategies to get rid of hiccups because I thought they were no big deal.

You can drink water upside-down with a water-backpack (ones that store water packs and you drink out of a tube).

I cure hiccups by what's virtually drowning myself: drinking small sips of water without breathing until I feel the hiccups "suffocate", so to speak.

Drink water really fast while holding breath. That or pass out.
