I know Merpeople are not real but how do they reproduce

Rye

They adopt?

Maybe they reproduce asexually like most monocellular organisms and worms. :D?

You just became number two on my awesome list for asking that question. I love you.

I figure they reproduce like fishies, since their bottom halves are fishie like. It would suck to be a merperson :(

They're asexual. Since they're like fish, they reproduce like them, not entirely. They have mer-eggs which come from their mouths... Yes, their mouths (Merpeople are an odd race). The eggs are pretty frickin' big too... >_>;; I bet it hurts.

They lay eggs and wait for the male to fertilize them, perhaps?

Futurama answers this question rather well:

Umbriel: What the hell is that?

Fry: Yeah I'm a little confused too. How do I...y'now...with the tail and all.

Umbriel: I'm not your first am I? I mean, I lay my eggs, then I leave and you release your fertiliser.

[Scene: Outside Colonel's House. Fry runs away from the house at top speed.]
Fry (gasping): Why couldn't she be the other type of mermaid, with the fish part on top and the lady part on the bottom?

xD

There's no shame in watching Futurama. It's a fine show. That's not even a particularly funny scene, and it still makes me laugh.

just like fishies! female lays eggs, male puts his goo overtop the unfertillized eggs. and then they become fertillized through osmosis
O_o

Same way fish do: Females pop out a ton of eggs and a male comes by and fertilizes them.

Sure merpeople LOOK sexy until you realize stuff like that.

I always thought they'd do it dolphin style. Y'no, swim opposite each other, bump a little, get a thrill and you're done. Imagine, though, how easy it would be for a casual passer by to accidentally bump into you and BANG - pregnancy issues, possible lawsuits or jailtime, domestic troubles leading to more jailtime... it must be a tough life. :(

That would work if they were half dolphin, but they're half fish, so I'd just assume they reproduce the same way fish do.

Waste of perfectly good mermaid boobies though...

You need a level 7 wizard of the moon to cast magic missile while rolling a 27 sided dice and throwing feathers in the air and spilling mountain dew everywhere.

Too right you do. It's probably the best season, what with the Harlem Globetrotters an' all.
