Gem Box + Economizer +Quick + Ultima = Infinite turns for Terra until Kefka dies and everybody survives with nary a scratch.

I just beat the game this way. It's very unsatisfying. I have to go back and do it all over now and try to find a way to make this more difficult on myself without feeling a little stupid for not using all the resources at my disposal. Or something...

Anyway, cool that this works, yeah?

Another easy way to get off a bunch of Ultimas before the enemy can blink is to level up your characters with Odin and raise their Speed stat to crazy levels. But then again, that goes against the purpose of making the game a challenge for you.

It's more satisfying when you do genji/offering and kill him with one command. 60,000 hp, what a wimp for an endboss, FF4's Zeromus has like 100,000~ hp and your characters cant do 8X9999 per turn.

Yeah, but... This'll work despite any level and any HP count.

My lv. 45 Shadow with Genji and Offering did about 5-6000 damage, maybe, going high. Cyan sword tech 7 did about 4-5000 damage.
Excellent stuff, but they had to wait their turn before attacking again.
Maybe some of us don't want to level to 9 before beating the game. Maybe killing Tyranosaurs gets extremely boring after a while.

Oi. How can you people stand the pointless leveling? It clearly doesn't make the game any easier after 45.

I enjoy leveling because I enjoy playing RPG's, I don't think of them as a race to the finish line where you have to cut corners everywhere just to finish quicker.

I never cut corners anywhere. The best part is exploring and figuring everything out.
I did that as best I could with FFVI. At the end, I was around lv. 60 the first time. Second time I was at 45.

But everybody talks about going to levels like 80 and 99.
Now... Either you're extremely stupid and can't figure anything out (Extremely stupid multiplied exponentially because you'd be leveling so high on weak level monsters if you can't progress! YIKES!).

Or you level up really high in repetitive battles against hig XP enemies for some god forsaken purpose of hitting the enemies really hard.

You're not stupid. So you're killing your valuable time doing extra leveling. You're not experiencing any extra bits of the game after lv. 60. Especially since I am a dunce and usually take longer to finish an RPG than most people.

Chances are you're not cutting corners, but you're just wasting time leveling when you should be beating the game and getting on with your life. If you can do 4000 damage and win the game, how can you stand to play for hours to do double the damage and then win. The time it takes to level uber high takes far longer than the time it takes to beat Kefka with less damaging attacks.

I always level up. I play RPGs for two things: story, and battles. Leveling will make battles funner by nuking everuthing >=D and I can get some story easier.

On topic, I used that trick to kill Kefka. It felt like cheating, but whatever. It's not like people are gonna arrest me for doing that...

I like to get to 99 just for completeness sake. I hardly ever make it, but I did with this game.

i lv up 2 99 in all ff games. if u dont, then you havent mastered it properly. its like a fundemental thing in every FF that u lv up to the rank of God hood. how on earth u can consider it cheating? thats riduclous. particulary in a game as easy as ffVI. it only took like 66 hours or so to master ffVI, so its hardly long.

the only ff games i havent reached max lv in that i,ve beaten is ffX(no levels), ffII(no levels), and ffIV + ffV(but i will when i replay them for mastering).

its really satisfing to become as hard as possible.

lol, Aeris. I have yet to see anyone reach level 99 in FFV. I have tried... when you'r about level 50-60 you level up so slow that it's not even fun.

It will take 324957hours to reach level 99 in FFV!!!!!!!

It's one thing to beat the game with godlike level 99 characters, it's another thing to beat a game in under 5 hours with initial equip, no espers, no relics etc. I'm personally much more impressed by the guy who beat Super Metroid in 40 minutes with a grand total of 5 energy tanks than I am by the guy who went around collecting every last missile and energy tank. Know what I mean?

true, but i,m doing it for my own personal statisfaction, not to impress ppl. i hate rushing things in life and it translates 2 my games.

hey ultimashadow, i WILL reach lv 99 in ffV if it kills me(which is likely). but hell, i havent even started the mastering yet, so i,m a long way off... what lv where u when u toppled Omega?

This thread from ages ago (http://216.97.98.128/forum/showthread.php?threadid=207&s=) put me off levelling up in FFV, sadly the link to the graph no longer works, but you can still see the figures needed from Aexoden's posts.

Fight Brachosaurs in the dinosaur forest or fight Aquilas in the Phoenix Cave.

Ah. Well, I don't think I'll waste my time doing anything like that.
Anyway, I'm surprised that so few people think that this thing I discovered is cool. This topic ought to die.

surely it wont take as long as mastering ffVII which is like 400+ hours 2 get max stats 4 everyone and a set of master materia 4 everyone(so a total of 24)?

erm... I reached lvl.99 in FFV in 90.xx hours! You just have to fight LOTS of steelgiants ;)

has anyone tried to level up in FFIIIj?? thats really a time killer.
after alot of heavy battles (many back attacks), I stopped at lvl.60-65 (somewhere around there) because its so slow...

leveling in FF6 isn't needed, thats correct but hey, if anyone wants a perfect game (all items(252 is max.), perf. stats etc.)... why not??

if you like to level up alot, please do so!
if ya don't want to, don't do so... thats it!

erm... by the way... FFVIII is a bad joke, you are able to level up to 99 in 2 hours(Isle of heavens/hell) but you are able to beat the game without gettin 1 exp. easily...

They used a different system for levelling up, how is that a bad joke?

I heard about it, but never used it. The only one I used was the Genji Gloves/The Offering.

With that+ 9999 on atima sword (I think?) are more than enough to overkill Kepfa

i lv up 2 99 in all ff games. if u dont, then you havent mastered it properly. The original FF only has fifty levels, though I always beat it below level thirty.

In FFVI, I only level up to get all the Rages and Lores, and to complete my item collection. Once that's done, I see no need to bully random enemies with my god-like powers, and finish the game a.s.a.p., so I can start playing other games.
